Just had a message from B&Q's delivery service saying our Wooden Castle play centre won't be delivered on Mon as scheduled (this was a redschedule from the 15th). Phoned B&Q and they didn't even offer a refund. Why can't they just sort it out properly, surely it's going to have more of a financial impact for them in the future if they don't.
  • My husband is stepping forward as a Trading Standards officer to contact and he will forward everything he receives onto Hampshire Trading Standards under the enterprise act. He can't gaurantee something miraculous will happen, but the more people who contact him the better. 50+ people will show it is a large scale issue.

So if people could email him rob.cardew@gloucestershire.gov.uk

Put B&Q in the subject line, and send the following information, he will forward it all on to the relevant officer in Hampshire.
Name (of person who placed the order) Address E-mail address Order No Was money debited from your account? Did you receive an E-mail order confirmation? What was the product ordered? Any written communication from B&Q? If so, briefly what does it say? Any compensation received?

Hopefully we will get there one way or another :j

edited to say: apologies if you already emailed frogling (and everyone else in the world) but because of data protection, Rob needs people to email by themselves to shopw consent, rather than just use everyone on frogling's list. Hope that makes sense

Was just about to PM you to see if I could send on everything I have from people, but you answered my query before I managed to ask. Are you psychic lol?!!

I shall e-mail your hubby with my details later, and thanks very much to him for doing this, it's helping us to make a bigger snowball to throw at B&Q!

Thanks Miranda and thank your husband as well.

I am new to this board, and was pointed to this direction as I told my sis how bad we had been treated by B+Q and the total lack of customer care.

    Will forawrd details on.

I didn't get in on this one as I simply don't have room for any of the kit but have been watching keenly and would like to post an open thank you to Miranda and her husband for the help. (already hit the button for you)

I spoke to Sam Stray a couple of times last week. On the Wednesday she was very sympathetic to my story and said she was going to phone Doncaster to see if they had any alternatives they could offer me. I told her this would be acceptable and left it with her going to get back to me after she'd check this out.
On Thursday, my other half recieved a call from Sam saying that there are no alternatives and no chance of stock being reserved for me next year as they didn't know what their stock or suppliers was going to be. All she was able to offer was £20 voucher 'in recognition of your disappointment'. To this my wife said she would need to speak to me.
She called me at work and I phoned Sam Stray - She just repeated what she'd told my wife. I sugested something from the Jungle Gym range as an alternative and she said all that she'd been authorised to offer was the £20 voucher. And if I wasn't satisfied with that then I should seek impartial advice.

Almost forgot: I asked who there suppliers were for the playcentres and she said 'Walton, she thinks their French' - I know their playhouses display as being 'Walton Garden Buildings'.

Well today my £20 vouchers have arrived through the post - I'll be getting a letter together rejecting these as I do not agree with
'Acceptance by you of these vouchers will be acknowledgement that this is in full and final settlement of any claim you allege arise from this transaciton, withouth admission of liability by B&Q plc. This payment does not, in any way affect any amount outstanding on the transaction'.
I will be informing them that I am seeking legal advice from my home insurance legal protection cover which I have with Direct Line Insurance.

i've had email conversations with Sam Stray on a number of occasions, total waste of time, i was sent the £20 vouchers so i sent them back. She couldn't thank me enough for returning them...its almost as though they want people to take them to court. I've taken legal advice from quite a few different people and i know that many of you have too...no one has said that there is even a remote possibility of losing..so B&Q's attitude..and that of Sam Stray suprises me. If i were them i'd be trying to build bridges by now.

By the way, i had email conversations only with Sam Stray. I did give her my mobile number and invited a representative from B&Q to call me or even pop round my house to explain to my children what had happened to their present. But they declined. If someone from B&Q is looking at this forum then you still have the chance, PM me for my number.
