My husband is stepping forward as a Trading Standards officer to contact and he will forward everything he receives onto Hampshire Trading Standards under the enterprise act. He can't gaurantee something miraculous will happen, but the more people who contact him the better. 50+ people will show it is a large scale issue.

So if people could email him rob.cardew@gloucestershire.gov.uk

Thanks for doing this hopefully sticking together will give us a better case

just posting again, to urge people to send their details to rob cardew, trading standards officer on previous page, and he'll forward everything in one nice big bundle to hampsire trading standards.

The problem if you email your local trading standards is that each office will only receive a couple of complaints ant not realise ho big the problem is, but by compiling and sending them all together it shows the scale of the problem.

    TIA

I have begun PM'ing those people who originally gave me their details to let them know what mirandamayhem and her hubby are doing. Hopefully this will mean anyone who hasn't looked at this thread for a while will do so and forward their details onto Rob.

I didn't come up with the idea of PM'ing these people, it was the suggestion of 'caitlinsnanna'. So, a great big THANK YOU to her, because her support has proven invaluable over the last couple of weeks :T

At least 50 people to the best of my knowledge, and that's just those who have PM'd me. I am sure that there are many people who haven't contacted me, and I know that there are people on other sites who have been let down in the same way over this offer.

i just thought id let people know how im getting on...
recived a letter today with £30.00 cheque inclosed even though i was told to ring them back if i found an alternitive.
below is word for word what they have wrote .
    dear *****
thank you for contacting us regarding problems that you have encountered with your purchase through our direct channel.
we are sorry you have had cause to complain on this occasion, reretfully,we are unable to supply the goods that you require.through a combination of underestiating the requirement for the reduced price items and a system failure, we inadvertently took orders when we had run out of stock.
the goods were removed from our system once the problem was identified.Refunds are being made in all cases where the ordered stock is not available,or suitable alternitives canot be sourced.
as a gesture of goodwill on this occasion ,i have enclosed a cheque to the value of £30,which i hope you will accept with our compliments and appologies for the inconvenience caused.
Acceptance by you of this payment is acknowledgement that this is full and final settlement of any claimyou allege arise out of this transaction without admission of liability by b&q plc.
once again please accpt my sincere aplogies for the inconvenience caused and i thank you for taking the time and trouble to bring this inportant matter to my attention
    yours sincerly

    Interesting... £30!

I recieved £20 (2* £10 B&Q Vouchers) on Saturday which I will be returning with a letter declining their gesture of goodwill.

It's insulting that they value their current and future customers so little. Do they not realise that they are going to be effecting our spending patterns for years to come?

In exactly the same situation, money taken for a Multi-Gym etc.

I have just returned after a week on holiday and B&Q have refunded the money to my CC, despite being told it was not my desired course of action. No compensation recieved.

I would like to write to them and state that I do not consider the matter settled by the refund, any suggestions as to the best person/address to send this to, from those who have had responses back etc.

    Thanks

Absolutely no point calling them, you will speak to the stupidest people IN THE WORLD and they will be of no help. I've tried talking to the people at the top (and until today, I've never failed to get to the top man) but you'll not get through the wall of ignorance they've raised aaround the senior management team. They are all singing from the same song sheet and don't want to hear from you.

Very, very unprofessional and totally unheard of in all my time dealing with big companies (jeez, I've spoken to the MD of British Telecom, Royal Mail, Tesco and numerous other companies so B&Q refusing me this just lets you know they are wrong, dishonest and want to lie to you).

Only way to move this on is to write to them and threten them with legal action. I've written to Kingifsher as B&Q are just a bunch of cowboys who care not one jot.
