I popped into my local B&Q warehouse this morning.

Right by the lawnmowers was a brochure listing their "2005 outside" brochure. Amongst all the lawnmowers and barbeques, the last few pages are devoted to play equipment.

They have all the table tennis equipment, play centres and jungle gyms in there. They had a huge stack of brochures, clearly new. So, according to B&Q, they've got this nice glossy brochure but half the products are out of stock - forever. I think not.

When I get a chance this morning, I'm going to go back to the store and buy some of these items (I hasten to add they are full price in the brochure). I'm quite happy to lay out £800 to see if I can place an order for various bits and pieces (at full price of course). Failing that, I'll try the telephone ordering hotline as well.

I can always get a refund! and it will show if B&Q have stock or not or are still taking orders for something they don't have - as I suspect they can source more but just are not prepared to sell at the sale price.

What a farce! I've been told yet again that they have sent missing product code 3303917 to the carrier to be delivered to me. I have been told this on 4 different occasions now- not once have they said that it out of stock!
When asked if I could complain, she said that I can only complain in writing after receipt of goods. To which I replied, so if it takes 6 months to get the item only they will you look into my problems 6 months after I ordered- yes she replied. What a joke I said. I've complained to watchdog and won't let the matter rest!

I was phoned this morning by Sharon Trethewey, she offered £10.00 only, and cliamed anyone who had been offered more was exagerating on the web site. I exclaimed that others had been offered £30.00 at least, she refused to budge. I however have declined the offer, as an insult it has cost me more than that in phone calls alone. Let alone the troubles I have had with my children since.
Frogling, we need to get that press report out ASAP

I was offer £20. Thanked them for the offer but politely put that on hold whilst I decided what to do. Have now found that I've been refunded, after telling them that I wanted it putting on my records that I would not authourise that just yet, no sign of the £20 and no correspondence telling me I've been refunded !

Did any oone else order this one and actually get it.

I ordered this along with the Ben Nevis and got it delivered at the same time.

One slight problem....the rope wall side was damaged and they are trying to find a replacement part from manufacturer.

It's not a huge issue as I could fix it myself, however I would prefer a new part if I had the choice.

    I've been Money Tipped!
have just called PLUM to see if they stock the part 03303917 that B&Q say is out of stock for the BEN NEVIS. The lady said they only supply B&Q with the table tennis table not the play equipment

Right, ready to fire off my 4 page complaint letter

Who is it at B&Q Headquarters this should be addressed to?

    You could also write to:

    Paul Worthington
(Group Chief Information Officer for Kingfisher and also the IT Directory for B&Q)

    Ian Harding
(Group Communications Director for Kingfisher - Responsible for investor relations, media relations and internal communications).

Right just received my call from the resolution department re the swing and slide set. Been offered a refund and that's it, nothing else.

I've advised them about "loss of bargain" etc and they are getting back to me after speaking to their analysts and legal team.
  • I have just been on the phone to someone at Plum. They are very much of the feeling that they are being made out to be the scapegoats here. What I have asked them to do is to let me know if the table tennis table being sold on their website is the same as the one on the B + Q website. Plum don't have a problem with anyone placing an order with them for this item, and even said that B + Q could place an order if they wish. For the "Loss Of Bargain" experts out there could you confirm my belief that if Plum confirm that they only make one outdoor table tennis table and it is the same one supplied both to their wholesale customers and their retail customers that we can go ahead and buy the tables from Plum and win "Loss of Bargain" cases.
Plum are wondering what they can actually say without annoying B and Q as they have a massive contract with them and it looks like B and Q are putting a lot of pressure on Plum.

I am waiting on a call back from Plum to see if they can confirm all tables being the same. They did tell me that the model they sell is a 500E.

I have just noticed that in post 449 STRAWB mentions that he received a 500E. Anyone else confirm this.

I have just had Plum called back and they know that B + Q are acting like complete toads. They have actually issued a release to B + Q to be put into stores stating that this is not plums fault. Yesterday B and Q called me to say that they were refunding the money on my card because there was no way that they could find out when they could get any more tables. Plums agreed that if they ever gave a stock availability report like that to B an Q, their biggest customer, B and Q would rip up the contract on the spot.

The only downside is that Plum say that they sell the 500E with 4 balls and B and Q apparently sell with 6. He couldn't elaborate on that so I don't know if this is the legal loophole that B and Q have decided will get them out of Loss of Bargain suits. Anyone who has received the table counted their balls lately?
