I feel awful for everyone who has been let down by B&Q - I almost feel as though I am responsible for the whole thing. I'm so sorry!
I ordered from B&Q before I posted the offer on MSE, and so far my delivery date has been moved twice. Our swings, slides and climbing frame - plus the Matterhorn for my MIL's garden - are supposed to arrive this Wednesday, but I haven't had a postcard and I am worried in case we get a lorry arrive with a delivery of only dust and air.
Perhaps those of us who don't receive our goods should get together and write a collective letter to Kevin Cotton, who is the consumer crusader for Bella magazine (he's on the same page as Martin is with his money saving tips). B&Q should be obliged to fill their orders, either with the original item or a suitable replacement. How their stock-check system can be this bad is beyond me.0 -

I know for a fact we are taking it as far as it will go. This is such a total shambles, and those who received confirmation emails have a binding contract with B&Q.
How would it be if we turned round and said "Oh sorry, don't have the funds to pay you. Shall give them another day, or can offer you a repacement by way of potatoes"

I recieved my Mont blanc on friday. It took 5 hours for me and my mrs to put together but it looks the business!

I wouldn't necesarily worry about the lack of a card confirming delivery, had been told that a card would be in the post confirming delivery from the couriers but no card arrived, phoned couriers day before scheduled delivery date to check all Ok/ AM/PM delivery etc- all Ok scheduled and delivered last Thursday as arranged, put together on Friday, daughter very happy with her new double swing/slide.

I have just spoken to Martin Green who is a manager at the call centre. He has informed me that they didn't receive any of the extra 200 play centres that the suppliers promised, so even if people have been rung to organise delivery, according to him they wont be getting one either. Dont know if thats true or if I'm being fobbed off, cos I was asking how people who ordered after me (I ordered about 9am on Monday 18th) had received calls about delivery dates, & he told me they would be contacted to be told there is no stock. Apparently they only found out at 2pm this afternoon that they wouldn't be getting the stock & they have a team working til 10 tonight phoning everyone. True or not? Who knows with this mob, all they do is lie.
I told him that people were contacting Watchdog & B&Q is going to get a lot of bad publicity from this. I told him the least they could do is give us a playcentre next year at the same price if we're only talking about 200 customers. He reckons that the message from head office is that they aren't going to do anything. I have sold our swing & slide (luckily only to friends so can go back on the deal but I'll still look bad), so told him that basically my daughter now has no swing, no slide & no play centre & his attitude was 'sorry but yes that just about sums it up'.
When the children are in bed tonight I'll write a letter to their Chief Executive & will copy Watchdog in. Might as well all make a fuss - we've got nothing to lose......except for all the swings/slides etc that we've already got rid of!0 -
Don't wait for a card stating delivery....... my stuff arrived without one even being sent. Call the delivery company direct, B&Q will give you the number of the relavant one.
As a matter of interest, and this'll be little comfort to a lot of you, but my stuff arrived as promised on Friday.Waddle you do eh?0 -

I was thinking along the very same lines.
Not interested in empty apologies or even £20-£50 gift vouchers - A guarantee of a playcentre next year at the price we ordered would be the least of my expectations.
Anything else and I'll be boycoting B&Q - And with what I currently spend each year at B&Q, I could buy the playcentre several times over at full price. So it will be their loss.

I ordered on the Monday and again the Wednesday - heaps of calls Chief execs office complaint file opened and someone is following thru for me. Even got called by B&Q to make sure Cristina had called me back to take c/card details again. I called the delivery people today,they said 8th August.
They better not have messed up again about this stock that came in last week!!0 -
Unbelievable!!!! We ordered a Wooden Play Castle a couple of weeks ago. The order was accepted and a delivery date given of today. Received 3 postcards confirming delivery. What turned up? The slide that attaches to the playcentre!!!!!! Phoned B&Q and apparently the order was put through seperately, the slide was the only thing in stock so it was sent out. So not happy, how can that happen?? So we've been charged £85 for a slide you can't use.0
