Hope this dosent sound like a gloat, I was 1 of the fortunate souls to get a table tennis table and the kids have been making very good use of it for the last 6 days. However I thought I would share my expierience this evening - While I was folding it up for the night the hold thing toppled over, Im not sure if it hit a bit of uneven ground or I assembled it poorly. although I checked all the bolts and it appears to be assembled ok, A word of warning please ensure you have the table on a even surface and be careful when you lift the sides.

Lol, sounds a bit dodgy to me ! Best you get rid of it ! I can collect ?! :D

Maybe you haven't encountered NTL or the Tax Credit Office yet :p

or any government organisation for that matter.

when i was made redundant the benefits office set me up incorrectly for means tested benefit (cant remember which one) rather than the standard...id filled out the form correctly...but after about 20 phone calls and 3 visits i gave up...they employ dunces

vat office didnt bother to set me up for VAT, then the same with evat and again with nat insurance....in fact EVERYTHING they have had to do they have screwed up...... and as for helping business startups what a joke....they actually make it bloody more difficult than it should be....forms r us!

next are banks.......lloyds must rate as the wordt bank ever......for the amount of muppets who work for them you would have though ther is a braincell there somewhere....to setup a business account you have to see a business advisor who will advise you on all things (you already know) about running a business, including maximising your profits......problem is they can only see you between 09:00 and 17:30 weekdays........now anyone with a braincell like to tell me what the flaw is with this process.....i could have attended and then said thank for making lose money!

lastly the bbc....should report UNBIASED news and has been riddled the disease I call the namby pamby politically correct brigade.........the reports during the iraq war were disrectful to the troops there and the bbc management should have been tried for treason......we shouldnt have gone i agree but only because why bother.....

Any one noticed what a pain the table top is to clean ... my kids got finger marks all over it and they took ages to get off ....

any ideas on what to use to clean it ... anyone left theirs in the rain yet ... i dont want to , the cover doesnt seem to fit properly either , i take it it should be fitted whilst its folded , noticed 2 zips on it so maybe ive got it the wrong way around .

Well, no, I haven't noticed... but would like to have the opportunity to find out! I'm still waiting for my delivery (scheduled for next week) and from the sounds of it I ain't going to get it.

Table tennis tables do tend to suffer from finger marks I'm afraid - I'd be careful of using anything which is going to affect the finish though - perhaps you could try something mild like Mr Muscle kitchen cleaner or just washing up liquid and water....
Perhaps you could remind your children that the rules of the game say that your spare hand shouldn't touch the table :p
Ah! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.

Just had Mr B&Q on the phone offering me the £20 compensation. I politely thanked him but refused to accept that.

I did try my luck at claimimg £100 as I needed £200 to buy an equivalent item. He checked whether that could be offered but returned to say that £20 was the maximum. I argued that I'd placed 3 seperate orders for items so I would expect 3 seperate £20 payments. This again was declined.

I've stated that I've not yet agreed to a refund or agreed to their compensation offer as I don't want my 'contract' with them to be terminated until I am fully satisfied.

Anyone else taking further steps ?

I'll be contacting Trading Standards either today or tomorrow (when I get time). Like you say, they have a legally binding contract to supply the goods we have paid for. They now say that they are unable to supply the goods, so they are in breach of contract. What rights we have at this point, I really don't know - I think the "loss of bargain" clause applies here, but really not sure what I'm talking about, so need some advise.

The fact that they are offering compensation at all shows that they acknowledge that they are at fault. I would urge everyone not to accept the £20 since this in no way covers the cost of sourcing an equivalent product.

As far as I can see, this is probably the table @£359...
