LAst time I made these I used pork mince.
I like them hot so I use my mini blender to chop an onion, chillies and garlic and mix this into the mince - becomes very moist with the juice from onions etc. Then I shape them into balls and put aside
For the tomato based sauce I use a tin of tomatoes and pasatta. I add in some sage, paprika more chillies and mushrooms (occasionaly peppers depends if I have some to use up) I also add a smidgen of balsamic vinegar and woucstershire sauce (sp?) when this has started to heat up, I add in the meatballs and cook for around 20 mins. My step son and OH love em!It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice0 -
I use mince, onion, white bread soaked in milk then squeezed out which helps make them light, and egg to bind. I season them with salt, pepper and either Worcestershire sauce or cinamon.
I make the tomatoe sauce by adding canned chopped tomatoes to fried onion and garlic and cooking it down slowly. I add a little wine vinegar or lemon juice and a pinch of salt and sometimes a dash of chilli sauce. Sometimes I put a splosh of milk in to make a creamier sauce.0 -
These are the best meatballs!!
Onion, clove of garlic, carrot. Pulverise them in one of those electric chopper thingies or put through a mincer. Add a little mixed egg to bind. Oxo cube per person, some italian herbs and add beef mince. Mix well then roll into balls. Grill for 10 mins, then turn them over and grill over side for 10 mins.
Sauce...1 oxo cube per person, tom puree and oregano. Add boiled water to desired consistency.

I have a really easy recipe:
Take 1 pack mince and add an ounce or two of dried sage and onion stuffing mix and 1 egg.
Squish together with your hands to mix, then shape into meatballs with wet hands. Fry in a non-stick pan until browned then add to your sauce (i make a tomato pasta sauce) and simmer for 20 minutes.0 -
I mix a pack of minced beef with an onion, crushed garlic, some very finely chopped mushrooms, about a cup of breadcrumbs and an egg to bind in a large bowl with my hands. Also add s + p and whatever herbs you like (mixed herbs would be fine). Roll into ball, then pop in the slow cooker with either a tin of chopped tomatoes or some passata, a glug of red wine, and maybe some more mushrooms if I have them to spare. Leave on low for about 6-8 hours (a bit more or less won't hurt them). Serve with pasta, mashed potatoes or rice. This will make loads (enough to feed 6-8). Left overs freeze very well, and are even nicer on reheating.
They taste great and are an excellent way of getting some veg into the children without them noticing! Mine ask for this on a regular basis0 -
The ikea ones are half pork, half beef.
I would add 1/2 lb each to a bowl with one onion chopped in food processor til completely mushy. Add 1 beaten egg and salt and pepper. Squidge together with fingers until completely blended then roll into small balls and cook in oven.0 -
thank you all will give them a go
regards
