just heat them up in the microwave. They are great with some tomato ketchup when you can't be bothered to cook0

You can make an almost identical sauce to the Ikea meatball sauce by making a basic savoury white sauce using butter, corn flour, milk, a little salt and the secret ingredient is a teaspoon of coffee! You can add a little bit of sugar and a chicken stock cube if you wish.0

sounds good sandy and I'll try it

Here is my recipe which you can adapt to your own taste.
1 lb good quality minced beef
4 oz breadcrumbs.
1 egg
2 tbsps tom puree
salt and black pepper
1 tbsp oregano
8oz frozen chopped spinach defrosted and drained
1 tbsp plain flour
14 oz tin of chopped tomatoes
Preheat oven Mark 2/300 F/150 C
In a bowl combine together all the ingredients except the flour and tinned tomatoes. Mix well and then form in to small balls - about 16.
Roll the flour lightly in the flour and shake off any surplus. Gently fry the meatballs in oil for about 5 minutes until brown. Transfer meatballs to casserole dish with the tomatoes making sure the meatballs arent on top of each other. Cook for approx. 30minutes.
If liked you can do a batch of these and open freeze them. It is also useful to do extra supplies of breadcrumbs to keep in the freezer for this dish.
Hope it helps.

I made this for the first time at the weekend. It's from Gillian Mckeith's 'You are what you eat' cookbook, so I wasn't expecting an enthusiastic reaction from my teens (or hubby) but it was a big success and the sauce was yummy!! :j
Minced turkey meatballs with suprise tomato sauce
serves 4
500g turkey mince (suppose beef would do, if you prefer)
1 medium onion, peeled and finely chopped
1 garlic clove, peeled and crushed
1 small bunch coriander, finely chopped
1/2 tsp organic wheat free vegetable bouillon powder
For the sauce
400g can chopped tomatoes
1 garlic clove, peeled and chopped
1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
1 celery stick, trimmed and chopped
1 large carrot, peeled and chopped
1 sweet potato, peeled and cubed
1 leek, peeled and chopped
1 courgette, trimmed and chopped
1 bay leaf (optional)
put all the ingredients in a large saucepan, fill the empty tomato can with water and pour over veg. bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer until veg is cooked.
Preheat oven to 200c/gas 6. Put turkey in a large bowl, using clean hands, mix thoroughly with the onion, garlic, coriander and bouillon powder. Form the mixture into small balls and place on a foil lined baking tray. Bake for 15-20 mins (it took mine longer than that to cook) Turn halfway and cook until they are lightly browned.
Allow sauce to cool for 5 mins, discard bay leaf and blend the sauce until smooth. Return to pan and stir in the meatballs. Heat through gently until hot.Laughter is the sun

I usually mix mince with some bread (previously wet with water or milk) them make meatballs out of them adding parsley but you could also add some corn or courgettes or little bits of tomatoes and then fry them and serve them with tomato sauce;)half scottish half italian :100%moneysaver0

I make these meatballs quite often as my "fussy eater" husby loves them...
For the meatballs:
1 pack of mince beef
1 slice of bread (any bread); tear this into small pieces
1 small onion or half a big one; finely chopped
1 garlic clove; crushed
tablespoon of tomato puree
mixed herbs
salt & pepper
Mix all the above in a bowl. When mixed, shape the mixture into balls (about golf size) and put them aside.
While the meatballs are resting prepare your tomato sauce - VERY EASY.
You'll need:
1 onion; chopped
1 garlic clove; chopped
chopped tomatos - 1 tin
cup of vegetable or chicken stock
tomato puree - 1 table spoon
Fry the onion and garlic in a pan. Add the the tomato puree and fry for couple more minutes. Pour in the can of chopped tomatos; bring to boil.
When the sauce is boiling, add the stock. Season the sauce with salt & pepper and any other herbs you might like; reduce heat, cover and simmer.
Now you need to grill the meatballs - I normally turn the grill up to the maximum and the meatballs take about 20 minutes to grill - don't forget to turned them over half way through grilling.
When the meatballs are cooked, put them into your pan with tomato sauce in, mix well and then serve.
We normally eat these with linguine.
BTW - THE MIX FOR THE MEATBALLS IS ALSO GREAT FOR HOME MADE BEEFBURGERS. YUMMMY!!!It's best to regret things you have done rather than those you have not...0
