  • Last night went to order the d-d07302a. My loan computer crashed and Dells telephone order phones had closed. So missed that deal as Dell won't accept it first thing this morning

Anybody found a good deal on the 3000 in the August offers and can give me an e-value code.

Cheers - Happy (not so at the moment)

I have been watching this thread with great interest. You see I'm after a a new computer for in and around £600. I would like it to have 1024mb of ram, and a good processor, and a 256MB graphics card (if possible) I'm looking to play Battlefield 2 on it, and do various other tasks (internet etc.) What PC on the Dell site would you suggest?

I've noticed that they are doing free double memory, and free delivery on some PC's. If none of these machines on the Dell site aren't up to the job, what PC could you suggest instead?

    Thanks in advance :)

EDIT: What's the difference between the various warranties that are available through Dell? (I've noticed that to get a cheaper deal, you have to delete/change the warranty on some machines)

Been away on hols for a few days - just checked my emails and Dell are going to send me the Windows XP and drivers CDs for my Dimension 3000. I suggest that if you buy one of these machines you kick up a fuss and make sure you get yours too.
By a remarkable coincidence in my almost abusive Mr Angry email to Dell I accused them of using the sort of behaviour that less reputable companies like Tiny use. And lo and behold Tiny have gone bust and now you can see why it's so important to get hold of the original installation CDs.

Just thought I would post in praise of Dell Customer Service (I know, I know..machines are usually good but service is not). As mentioned earlier I was surprised when I didn't receive a free 64Mb USB memory key - but a poster here pointed out that the offer disappeared on the day I ordered. Before I found this out I had emailed Dell to ask why I had not got one.... they rang (from India I assume) today to see if I was happy with the service and to ask about the 64Mb key and I told them that I realised that the offer must have run out on the day I ordered. The lady said that as a gesture of goodwill they would send me a free 64Mb USB key out anyway! So 1 x Dimension 5100 3Ghz P4 base unit + remote keyboard, 1 Inspiron 6000 and 64Mb key for £584!! Sorted.

What email did you use for Dell customer service? I can't find one for personal customers.
    Thanks, Tx

Although Dell (like many big corporations) tend to be quite incompetent, I have found that they are genuinely committed to good customer service. I know it doesn't always seem like that though :p
Thanks to all who post constructively.

At least Dell ALWAYS answer my emails, have a proper customer service tracking system and their Indian call centre staff are VERY polite and genuinely try to help you.

Personally I've never had any serious problems with Dell in the 6 PCs I've bought from them in the past year - even the latest one when they didn't include the XP CD they still came round to my viewpoint after a little prompting.

Not much consolation for those who bought from Tiny, but I prefer to buy from big organisations like Dell who are actually making profits - it gives me a little more sense of security.
