Thanks for that, already tried ebay and couldn't find any, was wondering if there were any shops that sell dell parts (apart from dell, too expensive for the housing).
Thanks for the link but I'm after the housing for desktop not a laptop.0 -

Hi, this is what you want:

or search ebay for 'Dell Dimension Floppy Drive & Housing'. I bought one a few weeks ago, very helpful seller. Easy to fit but you need to go into setup afterwards to tell the computer there's a new floppy drive.0 -
I've bought an external USB floppy drive on ebay which means i can plug it in to my home (Dell) PC and my (Dell) Laptop. If you don't use floppies often maybe thats the answer?0

a new and much higher price came up when I tried to buy. I have emailed Dell, but no reply yet. Do they mean that the deal expires anytime they feel like on the date they give? I've always taken it to mean at the end of the day. What do you think?
I think that maybe you didn't reduce the warranty to collect and return instead of the 3 year onsite warranty when you come to configure the laptop for purchase.0 -
hi guys... here i need to buy 2 desktops(with TFT screen) and one laptop VAT free. but the dell offer i saw from another site for £230 you will get a desktop with 17" TFT screen has finished.
so does any one know that if they are having those sort of deals anytime soon?0 -
Just thought I would post in praise of Dell Customer Service (I know, I know..machines are usually good but service is not). As mentioned earlier I was surprised when I didn't receive a free 64Mb USB memory key - but a poster here pointed out that the offer disappeared on the day I ordered. Before I found this out I had emailed Dell to ask why I had not got one.... they rang (from India I assume) today to see if I was happy with the service and to ask about the 64Mb key and I told them that I realised that the offer must have run out on the day I ordered. The lady said that as a gesture of goodwill they would send me a free 64Mb USB key out anyway! So 1 x Dimension 5100 3Ghz P4 base unit + remote keyboard, 1 Inspiron 6000 and 64Mb key for £584!! Sorted.0

Well.... you could return the product within 7 days for a full refund providing it is in as new condition I guess.... But then you won't be able to buy it again at your (presumably) bargain price.
Alternatively you could try to complain but with only 1 dead pixel it will undoubtedly be within specification/tolerance.
As for memory - save yourself the worry and buy from Crucial who guarantee it will work.

Yep,I'll second that.I ordered all the memory yesterday for the Dells that I bought (Dimension 3000's,5100's which didn't need memory upgrades and an Inspiron 6000) and the memory arrived today from Crucial.Excellent service as always from them.In fact, whenever I've ordered from them it's always been here the next day!!0 -
got my laptop & 3000, when the order was placed my credit card was charged the deal price but for some reason that charge has vanished and dell have only charged me for one of the systems, £232 or something, another mess up on dell's behalf? hope so
I'm selling the 3000 to a friend, stuck a modem and some extra ram in for them for £330 so if dell forget the other system I'll have myself a free laptop and an extra £100...
