I'm thinking of ordering a Dimension 3000 before the 27th July to get the 50quid off. But now Dell are also offering to include a free printer; which I don't need.
Has anybody managed to get a discount if Dell keep the printer?
Somebody posted re the 5100 that if you order the Dell Wireless Keyboard and Optical Mouse [add £23.00 or £1/month1] then order Mouse Included in Logitech Cordless Desktop [subtract £30.00] you have a wireless set up and saved £7. Does this also work with a 3000 system. Sorry if it's a silly question, but I don't understand 'puters !

Yes - the keyboard trick works on the 3000. I think it works on all systems too.
I don't think Dell will give you anything off if you don't want the printer. They aren't worth much (I think Del sold them for #9.99 a while back). My mate got a few Dells a while back and they came with free printers he didn't need and he had to give them away.0 -
(D07515) Dimension 5100 2.8GHz
Intel® Pentium 4 processor with HT technology 521 (2.80GHz, 800FSB, 1MB cache), Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition SP2 - English
I have the above system down to £357 after customising.
Also, are Dell still doing the discount if you buy two systems?0 -
How good is the Dell Wireless keyboard / mouse? Based upon experience of cheap versions of this kind of kit in the past, sometimes wireless kit can become a nightmare!!! In particulat I have found cheap wireless mice can become very "jerky" and nearly unusable. Any opinions would be welcome!0

need a cheap laptop
dell would be fine
any pointers would be appreciated..cheers0 -
Was it decided whether it was better to get the 3000 with
256MB Single Channel DDR (1x256MB)
or
256MB Dual Channel DDR400 (2x128MB)
It is a free option and I understand one will be easier to upgrade afterwards. But then somebody said there was 2 slots in any case. Which do I choose?
Please advise me.

I went for the 1x256Mb because it gave me the option of upgrading to 512Mb... (256Mb seems a bit limited to me)0

If you are speccing the PC with a Pentium 4 processor, then go for DDR400 memory as its faster, and if you are going for a Celeron CPU you'll have to take the DDR333 as it won't allow you to select DDR400.
For upgrade, another stick of DDR400 (or PC3200) and DDR333 (or PC2700) cost about the same, around £20 delivered
Edit: Misread your post, sorry (Dual/Single channel), but IMO I'd go 1x256 and add another stick of 256 yourself to give you 512MB Dual Channel.0 -
