Mumzy is right. For letter that is no larger than 240mm x 165 mm x 5 mm and no heavier than 100g the recorded delivery charge is £1.04

I have an overdraft and I did send a letter and I have transfered £1.- there as token payment. Haven't heard a beep from the bank thou except that they have added interest on the account.

thanks for the info. what about my overdraft accounts? i've never made any regular payments towards them, and should i send them the letter saying i'm doing a dmp?

    Hi Mummy

Do you have a new bank account? If so, then you can send a letter re your overdrafts explaining that you are now in a DMP, if you can afford it, send them a token payment of £1.00.

  • Hello folks. How is your Saturday so far?

Do you find it frustrating having to keep spending money on postage? It really mounts up doesn't it?

I think we will have to send recorded delivery SOA to Nat West/Lloyds as they are insistent they haven't received correspondence from Payplan or ourselves.

My main creditor is post office credit card,0we about £5,300.ive missed 3 payment so i'm nearly £600 behind, had letters saying there going to default if i don't get up tp date.they,ve given me till middle of next week to do this,i can send perhaps £20 but thats all !
Has anyone else got dealings with this company ? what are they like to deal with ?

    My other creditors are
Sainsburys c/c owe £3,300 upto date so far with them
Ge capital missed nearly 2 payments with them
    Hfc loan £1,300 upto date
    barclays overdraft £3,620

I'm worried sick, heard on here about companies not acepting DMP,s !

I'm in rented acomadation,so no house to be sold etc

i work parttime and recieve benifits to top this up !

If you are making regular payments even DMP payments baliffs are not going to happen!

More companies accept than don't - some companies will pass onto a DCA which in DMP terms usually is good news. A DCA is more likely to accept lower payments as they buy the debt for less than it is.

I have dealt with Sainsburys they passed me onto there own DCA Blair Oliver & Scott and they were fine. GE sent out nasty letters at first but were one of the first to accept my DMP and they passed it pretty quick onto a DCA called CL Finance - who have been brilliant!

I would try not to jump too far ahead Sue - very few of us have been taken to court and I believe you don't even have to appear if it comes to it! You have to remember that a site like this one you hear the worst about debts and companies. As I have said in the past there are over 150 people who joined this DMP thread alone and you only hear from a few as the rest have theirs up and running with no problem.

Try not to worry but if you do have a concern put it here and maybe we can help!

I wouldn't worry about the arrears that just proves how much you are struggling. When you get the welcome pack from the CCCS you can send out letters explaining your problem and the token payments mentioned on this page.

Do you need to change your bank account or are you ok? You need to make sure your bank account is not linked to anyone you owe money to.

    hi
few updates. still all scarey quiet on the letter and phone call front here, anyway as myself and oh are now being more open about debt problems with family members turns out oh's brother in trouble too. His mortgage also with Northern Rock and is now out of work with approx 35000 in debt unsecured debt. His problem is he has been working for a unamed person who has not paid his tax or Ni for the past year and he also never received a contract but payments went into his account weekly (600) but looks like he is now liable for a £6000 tax bill. He's been signed off with depression by his doctor and left his employer due to pay disputes (not getting any holiday or sick pay and being asked to work as and when) but hopes as a builder to get work again in the next week or so so will have money coming in. CIB advised of dmp but he will need to pay his tax bill. What are his rights around the no contract paying the tax bill will the tax people take installments? or force a sale on his flat? on another note he has been told by a friend who works high up at Northern Rock that as they are now government owned they are expected to accept token payments for the mortgage and cannot re possess if making payments as little as £20 a month although I would expect you would be accumilating interest on the outstanding balance and possible charges. Anyone heard of this too???

I would be as up front with the tax people as you can. Did he ever ask his employer to put him "on the books" if so then the tax office should persue him and come to a pay agreement re the tax. I should imagine DMP wise the payments when he sorts them to the tax office will be on the priorities like your mortgage payment.

As for Northern Rock whispers to be honest just on a logical argument I would not risk paying small amounts we are in untrod terrority with a nationalised company its not happened in recent times and everything is just rumour. Yes it will look bad if a government owned company reposses homes but it also looks bad if government departments loose discs of personal information but they still do!!

afraid he just does not know where he stands. He went to work for a friend who did not turn out to be one! Guess he will just have to wait and see what happens.
