Thanks very much Sam. The DMP is not mine it's my sisters and I'm trying to prepare her for all eventualities.

Did you owe them a lot? Sis's debt to them in £320 on a credit card and £7000 on a loan?

Yes, quite a lot, almost £7000  on a credit card.

Good luck with your sister's DMP.

    Sam,

This is quite scary. At the moment we've drafted all the letters and enclosed her SOA that's we've downloaded from the National debtline. She's in the process of opening a new account and we've decided that she'll post the letters to the creditors around the 28th of March, by that time she would have the new bank account, let work know about paying her wage into the new bank and transfer the direct debts that MUST be paid.

She's really down about all this and I worry that the constant hassle from creditors will push her over the edge. I'm not sure if GE have her works number, would they be allowed to contact her at work? I've just realised that the loan and credit card are with Asda which GE have something to do with. Does that make a difference?

    Hello everyone,

    Any advice appreciated. In short situation is as follows;
DMP started in October 2006, Had a 'Together' Mortgage with Northern Rock. 21K unsecured. Unsecured debt was included in DMP. Fixed rate ended last year, switched secured mortgage to another lender, NR still being paid via DMP on the unsecured, but now they are threatening legal prceedings on the loan!

I have told them politley that the DMP continues and payments will increase/decrease on the annual review in line with our circumstances, but they have said in 7 days they will commence proceedings.

Anybody else been in this position? What happened? Do i need to worry?

    Thanks
    Becky!

    Hi there,

We are in the exact same position as you. Have a look at my post from the day before yesterday as I have been given some fab advice. I tried to negotiate with NR but they would not budge. It is worth having a long chat with CCCS (if that is who your DMP is with) and finding out your options. I am not sure what stage you are at.

Feel free to PM me if you want to have a rant about NR!

    Hi Folks

Just out of curiosity, I wonder of the mods would consider making this thread a sticky, it's difficult to find within the forum, being a sticky would also make it easier to keep track of individual postings

Just a thought, and apologies if it's been mentioned previously.

Just started a DMP with CCCS so its early days for me and all very scary .Most of my debts are with Lloyds TSB i have an overdraft with them ,2 loans & credit card .

I got the paperwork from CCCS showing how my payments will be divided out i have 6 debts with 3 creditors which are Lloyds ,MBNA & northern rock ,the payments looked ok to me they are all getting about half payments to what i was paying them .

CCCS have only heard back from 1 yet that is Lloyds credit card they have rejected the payment ( whatever that means i cannot give them anymore ).I thought everyone would accept as i know i am only making half the min payment and the debt will take twice as long to pay but at least i am trying to pay .I will take me approx 8 years to pay my debt .

Lloyds are one of my biggest creditors the two credit cards accepted quite quick but the overdraft took ages. In the end I complained and got the interest refunded and them to agree for a year.

I don't mind to frighten you but Lloyds are so useless I would deal with them in writing only that way when they make mistakes (which they do!) you have it in writing and can use it to force their hands.

Two years into mine, interest is stopped and most of the interest they added on I got refunded.

Also if you were only paying minimum payments on a credit card (which I was) at the interest rate it would have taken me over 10 years to pay back! Food for thought!
