Thanks rayday2. Do you think it is best to ring creditors to negotiate before writing with an offer? Our advance split between all creditors = 38% each but I will try a lower offer first maybe? Wary of say offering 30% and getting too many rejections. Any thoughts from you or nomoney? Or anyone else with this experience. Waiting on Chelsea to ph. to confirm offer of advance.

Well done on re-mortgaging rayday2. Very pleased for you. XX

Definately go in for a lower offer then you can work up, and do it all by post better that way!

    Hi everyone

I've been struggling for years and years with massive debt, continually shuffling from one card to another until now when there is just no capacity on any of the 10 cards, late payment / overlimit charges are piling up and rent / utility bils all need to be paid. I decided to contact Payplan and I feel as though it is the best thing I've ever done. I have spoken to 3 people in the course of initial contact, giving all my details (about an hour's phone call), and then a follow up call today to confirm I understood the documents they had sent me. All 3 have been lovely and the person I spoke to today will be my case officer. None have been judgemental, they've all been friendly as well as professional and offered me practical advice re new bank accounts etc and what to say to creditors when they call.

2 creditors have called, and when I said I was in touch with Payplan and gave my reference number that was that.

Payplan have advised that the next few weeks/months will be rocky with default notices etc but it is such a relief to be doing something about making sure I can live and yet also repaying my debt - which I am in no way trying to avoid.

Life seems so much more bearable!

Thanks for reading; nobody else knows about this and it is good to share with you guys.

    Hi Piggybanker,

Well done :T:T:T I'm exactly in the same boat as you, Payplan is just setting up my DMP - due to start next month  They have been very professional and friendly with me, too. Re phone calls, I'm not answering any from the creditors at the moment (have a caller display on my phone at home), I'm sure the letters from them will come soon enough.
Fingers crossed, some of them may freeze interest charges.

Payplan are brilliant and have been a lifesaver for us. Good luck with them and with sorting things out,

    Thanks rayday2 very much appreciated.

Sorry it was a bit brief the phone rang just as I started typing!

I know it takes longer negotiating via post but you need if they do agree anything it to be on paper and also you know the paid bullies in credit departments - so keep it to a minimum and letter only!

I hope you and your wife get some peace of mind out of it, I know you both deserve it!

Well my youngest will be in nursery in September so I am hoping to be able to help out in the school, something I have not been able to do for 3 years. I like to keep an active eye on their education, I am a parent governor too speciailising in the special needs bit.

My eldest went into comp this year and she needs me to help for homework, she got in a top set so have quite a bit of accelerated homework to do. Well its not exactly help more support and showing an interest - I know this means a lot because my mum never did it with me!

I can't stay idle its not my style so I will be looking for some home earning opportunties too.

It does mean a lot. Teenagers need support and understandingnow just as much as when they are younger. It is easy to stop saying things to them like "I am very proud of you" as they get older and they still need positives.

    Hi all,

I am feeling really pleased with myself this morning....this week I've reduced my gas/electric dd, reduced my insurance and professional fees, received notificatication of a decrease in secured loan payment and calculated my payrise for April :T .

The outcome is that I have an extra £88.12 to put into my DMP and I am going to inform Payplan about this as soon as this months payments have gone to the creditors (don't want to complicate things  by giving them new figures too soon).

This takes 5 months off my DFD :j .

It's thanks to all the inspiring and informative posts on here that I finally feel I'm getting life under control.

    Thanks all :kisses3: .

    Nomoneynomoney,

I have approx £1000 spare cash which I want to use to pay off my smaller creditors as this will allow the token payments they get to increase my monthly payments to the bigger creditors.

Do I have to show each creditor what I'm offering to each?? I ask because I don't want to offer anything towards the larger debts as it's pointless. I just want to pay off the smaller ones.
    Good afternoon

I had a problem with my smaller debts - they wanted the full amount. Because they are at present interest free I decided to just keep them as part of my payment plan.
I didn't contact all the creditors at once. I did them one at a time. That gave me confidence when one accepted to know it was possible to do. I did not make the offer to my biggest creditor because they are being b*******s with me.

If you can only afford to make an offer to the smaller ones then only contact them -I think it's up to you if you decide to include a breakdown of how much you are offering everyone but maybe it's better if you don't include that info. I don't think it makes any difference to the decision.

CCCS said I could pay who ever accepted the offers. If the small ones won't accept maybe you can clear a larger debt with your £1000.
