One of my creditors, Nat West, say they are about to send me a 'statutory notice/demand'. Has anyone else received one of these and, is there anything I can do to prepare for it? Thanks

I think it is possibly another word for default notice - give me 10 mins and I will check through my file I think Lloyds did this with me and I rang the National Debt Helpline who told me it was basically scarey language.

    Hi cloud nine
I think you should take a look at the CAG forum. There is excellent advice about statutory demands read this link.

It is normally a scare tactic - but if one is served on you, you must treat it has a statutory demand and have it set aside otherwise you run the risk of being made bankrupt

I know that feeling I did that when I first set everything up now I just treat it like everyday bills and if problems crop up sort them out - or attempt too!

But knowledge is power so don't knock it!
  • when I had my LBM in 2003 I was exactly the same then - over the years I've had a little look at some of the forums but just lately I'm addicted again.
I found in the past that some of the forums were too judgemental which was not very good for moral.
I've learnt so much lately - it's great

Oh dear, I'm a bit worried now. Can anyone get issued with a Statutory demand, even if they are in a DMP which appears to be running smoothly? Wondering if I will be forever 'looking over my shoulder'? I've read some stuff about bankruptcy/statutory demands and trying to ascertain whether you can be made to sell the house if the debts are only in one persons name. Can't imagine my hubby (debt free) would sell he his share of the equity. Probably just having a wobbly..............
