    Hi all

I have another recent debt problem that I need advice on. I have changed duel fuel suppliers from Npower to Scottish Power. However Npower have sent me a settlement bill of around £500 combined. There is no way on heaven and earth I can pay this amount in one go. I did'nt actually think the settlement bill was going to be that much either. I am sure I am being ripped off! Surely it can't be that amount I owe! What can I do here? Do I make them an offer of installments? Do I dispute the amount? Do I inform CCCS?

    Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

    Hi Bolton,

As other people have mentioned check your meter readings and if the balance is outstanding then this can be added to your DMP, give client support a call and they will do this for you

2)how can i change some of the details i have given to cccs regarding creditors? i forgot to add one!and i also need to take one away as i have managed to clear it:D . called cccs but they didnt seem very helpful as i seem to be in-between systems as i am setting the dmp up now?

    help much appreciated as always!

in the paperwork there will be a support counsellors number, if you give that a call and they will arrange for the debt to be added and If this changes the advice they will book you in for a second appointment to make sure a DMP is still "Best Advice"

  • HI
Just got off the phone from payplan. My wages went into the new bank account today and Payplan have informed all my creditors of my intentions to enter into DMP. I am conerned however that the fact that I am up to date with payments until mid march when I will have already made a payment through payplan they will assume I have more to pay. Have been using debt to pay debt so will have absolutley no access to anything extra! No point in worrying now. But feel like I am now moving forward. Just need to worry about the calls and rising mortgage payments now! However just to cheer me up found out today I will be paid a visit by OFSTED on Thursday so atleast I will be kept busy until Friday if only I had the money to have a good drink!!! Hope everyone is ticking over. Thank you for all the reassuring advice. Def feel better after a miserable half term.:o

don't worry about the calls, if they phone put them on hold and go and do whatever you need to do for an hour or two.
Sure you can't afford a bottle of wine to celebrate your DMP:beer: I'll have a glass with you

Must be a Bolton thing as I`ve also had a massive dual bill off Powergen(now E on) for £780.

I have paid it mainly thanks to only making token payments to my creditors (DMP due to start March 1st:eek: ) and was hoping to have a nice emergency fund to fall back on but now thats all gone on this bill.
I thought it was classed as a `priority` debt and had to be upto date before they let you on a DMP????
I`ve even had to borrow some money off my dad the first time in 25 years and might still be short at the end of the month!

Feeling fed up and worthless again!

Hi Mog - there are lots of people in that situation - so the Creditors see that a lot - ie you don't miss a payment - up to date on everything - then suddenly they get the DMP notice. They know people use credit to pay debt - that is the way many of us get in this mess - because it just spirals out of control.

So the creditors won't think it is unusual that you suddenly don't have the money to pay them :-)

Sorry you had a rotten half term - but I am sure by the time the next one comes round you will be feeling a lot more positive.

I still have wobbly days when it all feels a bit too much - but its early days for me and my husband too - but when I read back through the thread I can see lots of people have got through the "early days" relatively unscathed and are ticking along nicely. That'll be us two soon - you'll see :D
  • hello all just wanted to give a little up date. sent all the letters to my creitors explaining that i was in contact with cccs an also enclosed a £5 token payment for march to all.sent them all recorded delivery but it ended up costing over £10:eek: for all 10!
have also cancelled my d/d and s/o at bank so am feeling rather chuffed with myself right now:j !!
just waiting to get this months payslip and then i will send dmp bits back to cccs. anyone know if i can send a copy of my bank statement showing my hubbys wages going into the bank as he never gets payslips (given up constantly asking them for them!)??

I had a similar problem but the CCCS were fine with copy bank statements to prove income.
