:hello: Hi im new here, nice to meet you all
Ive had DMP since october 2006. We pay 221.00 p/m which we will be paying for 19 years
The cccs have been great, my current worry is am about to be a student again and do not know how much income i will have p/m and may struggle to even meat the DMP payments
What is the benefit of having DMP as opposed to an IVA i have lost sight of why i chose DMP ?“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0 -
Hello everyone!
Im on my 7 month now on my DMP (best thing i have ever done) BUT Payplan have taken my money out this month as usual on the 20th and not paid any of my 8 creditors?!!! I have already had a snotty letter from Natwest saying they will default me (i know i am lucky this hasnt happened yet!) I rang them and the guy was ok but also confused as he cant understand why payplan would stop as everything was running fine up untill now.
payplan then called me and asked me why I have missed my payment??! I told her it has come out of my bank account as normal and cant understand why this has happened - I am waiting for her to get back to me but I was just wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this?
I was soooo pleased with the way everything was going and now i have that dread of all the creditors ringing me every 5 minutes asking for payments as it was at the begining:mad:
Im very cross with payplan and I just hope they pay the creditors asap - Im worried that they will not pay them untill next month and this will go against me even though I have paid them.
Can anyone give any advice please?0 -
OH and I had Default Notices from HFC Bank this morning. We are 2 yrs into our DMP with CCCS.
Does anyone know if this probably means we are now going to get passed over to a DCA?
Its amazing how these letters can still cause the racing heart and the wobbly knees even after I have read all the advice on here and other forums. I don't think I will ever forget those initial awful months at the start of the DMP.
I have asked CCCS by email to forward the current I&E sheet to HFC. We are due a review next month but I am not sure how up to date HFC's records are.
I will write to HFC to tell them to expect something from CCCS.Naturally, it'll be going Recorded but can it go Recorded if its going to a PO Box?0 -
Hi everyone
Made my firts payment to CCCS on 1st Feb and payments now gone out to creditors. Been checking my accounts and some have received and some not. Is this normal? Lloyds where I have O/draft, loan and CC it only shows on CC. Will I hear anythong from my creditors? or will things start to tick along.Lightbulb moment Jan 2008 Debt Total £50000

Some of mine show up quicker than others. First direct always shows up on the 25th every time. Mint always takes about 3 days to show up and the DCA always puts it down for 31st or 1st of month as date received.
I think it just depends on how quickly they update the system - although not sure about the same bank taking different times
You may or may not get calls/letters saying whether they accept the DMP or not - one wrote to accept after 1st payment and say they would stop interest, one rang. Another never contacted me at all until a default noticeworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Obviously without knowing all of your facts it could well be a different position to mine, but I have found HFC to be very unhelpful from the start onwards. I informed them when I was having difficulties, so they sent me a budget planner which I returned. Next thing I knew they had passed me over to Weightmans Solicitors for them to collect the money. Again I sent a budget plan to them & then joined the DMP through CCCS. I have maintained all payments & thought everything was fine until the end of January when Weightmans started trying to force me to sign for a Voluntary Charge on my house. On advice from CCCS I refused but now they are taking me to County Court to get a CCJ & then go for a Charge on the house anyway. Both CCCS & National Debtline have since told me they are very likely to get the charge as judges seem more willing to grant them now. Basically I feel badly advised because if they are going to get the charge anyway the only thing thats happened is my debt has increased several hundred pounds. If I had signed the Voluntary charge then Weightmans had already put in writing they would stop interest, not go for an order of sale & that they would accept the current monthly fee for the term of the charge.:j DMP mutual support thread member - 135:j0 -
We had the same experience with weightmans, they seem to use bullying tactics they asked us to sign for a charge on our house we did not sign and they said they would go court - THEY DIDNT THOUGH!“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0

geoffMr1 thanks for your reply. Luckily for us (but not for HFC) we live in rented property. We sold a house last year and had a bit over £20000 to try and offer F&F to creditors. When we approached HFC they offered a 30% reduction but this would have taken well over half of the money and we owe a total of £69000+.
We tried with one other creditor and they were the same.
Spoke to CCCS and they said to forget it for now. So the money is in a high interest account working for us. Haven't touched a penny so feel half virtuous and half worried in case they find out we've got it.
But if we paid HFC, the other (loads of) creditors are being disadvantaged.0 -

Hello & Welcome to the boards
As your circumstances are about to change I would recommend that you give CCCS a call and then they can go through a review of your account with you. CCCS can then look at all the options that are available to you, as you are going to be a student again there is going to probably be some changes to your budget. On your review you will be talked through all the options that are available to you.
With regards IVA’s they are only applicable is certain circumstances. So if this is an option this would be discussed on your appointmentI am a Debt Counsellor that works for the CCCS and have specific permission from Martin, to post on these boards to try and help those in debt. Read more information on the CCCS and what it does in the Debt Problems: What to do and where to get help article.
CCCS is a registered charity, and there is no charge whatsoever for any of the services we provide to our clients. We take great pride in offering first class help and advice, but we only offer this where we have been able to fully explore and understand your circumstances with you. We want to help you understand these choices and their possible implications but not make them for you.

I have been served with a County Court claim form, so they are going ahead with it in my case. If I had defaulted then I would've understood their actions, however they get money monthly (even if it's not as much as they would like). All this is doing is increasing my debt for no particular reason. Originally I had an agreement with them for £50 a month which I kept to, however after 3 months they wanted £100 a month & told me that in a further 3 months they would want £150 a month & so on. As I could barely afford the £50 the increase was well beyond me.:j DMP mutual support thread member - 135:j0
