    May I join as well?
We have been in a DMP with CCCS for nearly 2 years and will be for many, many years to come.
I am already in a panic about our annual CCCS review due March. Don't know why but so many things have gone up...except our incomes!
We did increase our monthly payment from the initial £105 to £418 last year but, as my DH had to take semi etirement and I am about to do the same, I worry that our monthly payment will drop and our creditors will get nasty.
We had a profit left after we sold our house but Full and Final Settlement figures we can offer have been refused so far as we can only offer about 30% on the outstanding debt of £69000 (down from £84000).
It is causing me sleepless nights worrying that if we can't maintain or increase our payments then creditors will start adding interest again giving us no hope of escaping the debt we owe.

We are at the first year review stage. HSBC, Mint have accepted new/continued payment, Egg we are waiting to hear from, Halifax have just asked for a review this week.

Just out of interest how long did it take Mint to accept your payment proposal??

Initially, within six weeks, they got a full I&E and a pro-rata payment and accepted it for six months. We then slightly increased it, and now another six months on - they've accepted another increase. They froze charges and interest after those first six weeks.

Hi Rayday - Just to say many thanks for the info re the horrible creditor - I really appreciate it. My husband's DMP is with the CCCS - and on the whole they are great - however the other day he spoke to them about the solicitors letter we received and the person he got seemed to contradict other advice and really scared him... so he phoned National Debtline who put his mind at rest a little.

What I am worried about now is if the Solicitors start asking for my income and expenditure details - because I get the Child Benefit.

I work full time but pay huge charges for childcare, the mortgage endowment, most of the grocery bill and other things like TV licence, car tax - which is why my husband can pay a substantial amount to his DMP (but it is a a drop in the ocean compared to his overall debt of course). I don't have much if anything left at the end of the month but I do try to save a bit for emergencies and holidays (which are v cheap cos we go to my parents in Spain) - but I'm worried that they will try to take everything they can off him and leave me holding the fort. Can they do that? Would the Court want to know my details?

They were nicer to you than to me then!!! ;)

For the Mint card they ignored all my letters and only stopped charges and interest after they dumped a default notice on me - about 3 months into the DMP

For the Mint loan -they ignored all my letters but apparently agreed reduced payments for 6 months with CCCS. Then when that was up... rang to ask when I was going to increase payments, but I said I couldn't at the present time... then issued a default.

They haven't transferred the debts though so I can't see why they couldn't have just issued defaults at the start and stopped charging ;)

Amy - It is very rare that things actually go to courts, yes sometimes they do but I would I know it sounds a little irresponsible but cross that bridge if it comes to it.

Why worry now you can't change anything, if it does come to it I am pretty sure that if you joined together all your incoming and expidenture the payments would not go up at all. I am not saying though that you would have to join your expenditure together its his DMP, I am sure CCCS would help you further if it came to court action.

I mean for my expense sheet I am a little naughty and make out that I pay school dinners, bus fares all sorts which gives me more money for small luxuries and like you said they are pretty small.

The above link is worth while bookmarking it is the industry standard of "accepted" budgetting amounts, also the national debt helpline have a downloadable advice booklet that gives you amounts you can put for housekeeping etc, I bet when you consider those it would work out about right.

Hi Janey - lovely to have you here. I read your post last night - and I really feel for you. There are some great people on this thread and I am sure someone can give you some practical advice.

Unfortunately I am a relative newbie so don't know the answers yet (but I'm learning fast!).

Please don't have sleepless nights about it all - why don't you phone CCCS just for a chat about your worries - they usually put my husband's mind at rest -and mine too when things get a bit fraught! My husband also phoned National Debtline who had great advice and they don't mind you don't have the DMP with them.

I know - you probably know all this already - but I think as soon as you've shared your worries with them you'll feel a whole lot better about the review coming up!!

Let us know how you get on

Janey - The worse that can happen if they get "nasty" with reduced payments is apply for a CCJ. When you are with the CCCS the courts will usually see that you are trying your best facing up to debts and grant the offered payment that CCCS put forward.

Even if you get a charge on your house they can't make you sell it. Its just if you ever did you pay them off!
