Wow Ray ! I'd not seen that link before - that helps a lot thank you.
I think my mind is racing at the moment. You are absolutely right - whats the point in worrying before its even happened and I can't do anything about it anyway until then - so I'm going to take your advice and just wait and see what happens - and try to chill out over the weekend!0 -
They were nicer to you than to me then!!!
For the Mint card they ignored all my letters and only stopped charges and interest after they dumped a default notice on me - about 3 months into the DMP
For the Mint loan -they ignored all my letters but apparently agreed reduced payments for 6 months with CCCS. Then when that was up... rang to ask when I was going to increase payments, but I said I couldn't at the present time... then issued a default.
They haven't transferred the debts though so I can't see why they couldn't have just issued defaults at the start and stopped charging
I have had the default notice but no sign of stopping interest and charge. I will check my next statement and then fire off a letter to them to see where i stand.0 -

I think it was just over a month after the default that they actually stopped interest, so if you have only recently got the default - they may stop charges soonworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Thanks Amy for the support and Ray for the advice.:A
Things always seem worse when you are thinking about them late at night. That link you gave will be very useful.
I have just had to change to a less stressful job but there's a trade off as the salary is a lot less. I did take early retirement from my previous job so will have a pension to top my salary up. I am worried that if I tell CCCS I have changed my job and about the pension lump sum (not much as I have taken it early) I will be made to hand it all over.
I know we owe this money but at our ages (54 & 56) we would like a bit of security for our dotage!
My OH is on the verge of having to give up work totally as he is crippled with arthritis. He has a small pension from when he was made redundant but only earns £60-£85 a week plus £67 pension. His redundancy payout was £11000 which he used to try and set up a business but it folded adding to our debt.
Ray we are in rented accommodation. The profit from the house we sold is untouched (£23000) and in a savings account. We had to sell the house because we were renting it out but it was flooded and we had no income from it for months. This co-incided with my husband losing his job for a second time.
And then, 3 months ago, we had a massive house fire. THe insurance company have been OK but just slow. We will get paid out and obviously it will be a big sum (contents only) so we might even get a holiday. Guilt, guilt.

You seem to have been plagued with bad luck, but plenty of people in here (OK the old threads!) have spent time worrying about reviews just try to remember they are there to help you and work in your interest, also it is just advice if you didn't like what they say there are still options.0

I think really we've had a very easy first year, whether that will continue I don't know. From the letter Halifax have now sent us, I'd say it's going to get rocky. No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Hello Everyone
Just popping in to say Hi, hope you are all well and not too stressed:D ,
I am due to have my yearly review any day now, I can't increase my payments at the moment and hope thats ok and doesn't start any hassle!
I have had only one phone call since I started my DMP and so have been really lucky up to now.
I will be paying back my debts for another 8 years, but thats ok at least I know it will be paid back at a rate I can afford and gone are the days when I had to use my credit card just to put food on the table. There was never any money left after I had scraped together my minimum payments and sometimes even had to withdraw cash from one cc to pay the minimum on another.
DMPs can seem like a really scary option but if you hang in there and deal with things as they arise and try not to worry about what could or may happen they can also be a blessing.
I am picking up a new car (well new to me!!) tomorrow and my m redg metro will be going to the great scrapyard in the sky. I would never have been able to afford a different car 12 months ago but by budgeting and thinking about what I spend I have been able to save for the first time in my life!
Take Care Everyone!
