Not sure about it being brighter LOL I am having trouble looking at my DH! Maybe because I kept asking him if we were okay if we could afford to be buying this or that and he just said yes it is all fine, when it wasn't, this isn't the first time he has got us into debt so I should have learnt. Maybe that is why I am so peeved as it is also my fault for not pushing the questions still we are aways a lot wiser after the event. I am doing a daily diary of what we spend and I do think this time he really has seen the light. My only othr problem is I nosee this as a challenge and can become quite obsessed toget the debt down, but when it has gone it is staying gone:)

so Just me we will have to keep each other updated:)

Hi there, I have just signed up to caller display with BT. Can not remeber if it was free, if not, it is about £1 a month - may be worth doing this. You can vet you calls and if you do not feel like talking to anyone, you dont have too! - Just a thought, as I too can not just let the phone ring.
    Good luck.
About the same stage as you, so I am sure we can all offer each other lots of support

I was wondering how full & final settlements plus claiming back charges works when in a DMP. The amounts I owe are larger on my credit report than with Payplan (interest I'm told etc), will my reclaimed charges come off my credit report amounts or my Payplan amounts? Also I can tell them that I have x amount to throw at 1 or 2 creditors and they will allow that or throw it at all?

Also has anyones credit rating gone down with increased payment? With TSB I've gone from (ok) to (3) since last December. I upped my payments in Jan

Exactly the same here. Well I knew we had debt but didn't realise how bad it was and I am as much to blame for putting the blinkers up and letting DH deal with it on his own. I am also now going to take charge of the weekly budget and he is not allowed any more delivery pizzas.:D

We will definitely keep eachother updated.

    hiya all
just updated myself on the past few days post, so welcome to all newbies, sorry didnt note down your names

just wanted to say im doing my own dmp and yeah the mbna and alliance and leicester giving me the most grief, written harrasement letter and data info held letter (anyone want a copy pm me and i will send u a template) however, am awaiting to hear from them - am recording the calls though and lo and behold the Rma just called me so in the book they go, they are people collecting on behalf of mbna.

my others include m and spencers, monument, bos, have cancelled the interest and given me 12 months to pay wow fab

i wanted to ask the more experienced guys the following pls may help others too

    1. ive been threated by mbna they will send me a default notice, im just over the limit by 80.00 - my friend has offered to pay it for me so i dont get a default, but if the letter does arrive, i understand to have the 14 days to pay and then no default, is this right? therefore i just should carry on with my payments on a monthly basis , been paying for the past 3 months okay, and await if they do infact issue a default? the other thing ive sent them a request for copy of my credit card agreement, and they are about 30 days past the date i posted. im waiting for the 12+2 days plus 1 calander month so i can report them.

    2. again ive been looking at incase they take you to court and issue a ccj, then you still have a month to pay the funds off within the month and then write to the court to prove you have and pay something and have the ccj removed but can only happen if full debt is paid within that month after the ccj confirmed.

So to all there is a lot of stuff that i wasnt aware of when i first started this , i just want a little time to pay everyone off , i was like you newbies worrying about all the phone calls and the lettes, trying to deal with everything, but now im much calmer as i know my facts better, im paying something the worst they can do is so down that line unless they try and slap the charging order on the house, thats another dilemma i think is being excersied by many creditors, going to look into this a bit more will update you.

Above all if you are with payplan or cccs let them take the phone calls, you just keep making the payments. any concerns come to us on the board, this has been my lifeline these past few months, thanks to all

Im going to also ask for my credit files from all 3 agencies today and then look at them to understand that side of the financial paperwork too

Keep happy and have a fun day ciao MAZ

Defaults do not necessarily mean you go to court. Most of my accounts have had defaults its just something that happens, sometimes following one they will accept plans or pass it onto a DCA who will accept a plan.

If you find an amount to prevent a default they could say you obviously have more money than you are letting on. Also what happens the next time they say they will send one?
