Loopy you must not go back to work until you are strong enough - it is just foolhardy. So what what others think they are far too narrow minded no lifers who criticise others because they have huge failings in their own lives.
Previous to us going on a DMP we had 5 jobs between the two of us, it serviced our debts and made us think we were entitled to spend. Now hubby has one and I work part time and we have a DMP, but we don't add to our credit burden and we don't feel entitled to a good life. Also somewhere along the line we learnt that spending made us miserable and we are much happier and hold our head higher. How liberating to have Christmas and not have a credit card bill!
You do what is right for you and your family they are the only ones you have to please in life.0 -
Hiya Rayday2, could I also get a DMP mutual support number please."Knowledge will give you power, but character respect" ~ Bruce Lee0

Added you number 194 - Big official welcome :T0 -
Added number 193 - welcome!
Just Me - I changed my phone number when I started my DMP I told family and friends we were getting funny phone calls and lots of sales ones so had a new number and went ex directory it was free too!
The plus side was that my creditors can only write to me and I am sure that is why some of mine were quicker accepting they could not pressurise me. You can open your mail after a cup of tea on your terms rather than a phone ringing whenever they feel like it!
Thanks Rayday. I was thinking there aren't that many people I will have to inform about a change of number so it won't cause too much hassle.:TLightbulb moment: 14 May 2008Debt free date: April 2014DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 188Nightowl Member No 160 -

Sorry to bombard the thread with questions, hopefully I'll learn something, and one day pass the knowledge on.
I'm going to send my forms off for my NDL DMP on thurs, after taking out my wages from old account to my new parachute account.
I've seen some people have been paying token payments of £1. I was thinking it would be fairish to offer what the NDL are proposing for my payments to creditors.
Also, I don't know whether to cancel the DDs to the creditors that currently stand before thurs.
Can anyone point me in the direction of the letter to tell your creditors that you have applied for a DMP, and to please be patient or whatever>?
Thanks

I have seen that too. We are going to make the usual minimum payments until the DMP starts as we can just about afford to.Lightbulb moment: 14 May 2008Debt free date: April 2014DMP Mutual Support Thread Member No 188Nightowl Member No 160

Hi I have debts of approx £55000 and i'm going to get in touch with cccs sometime this week to sort out a DMP. Can anybody tell me how long these take to set up? and how long do they stay on your credit history for is it 6 years from when the DMP is set up or from when it is paid off? Sorry about all the questions I find it quite bizarre that i am now worried about entering into one of these plans when in the past I would apply for a credit card or loan (and get it) without a second thought.0

Hi and Welcome to the thread.
DMP's can start more or less straight away but generally it's 2-3 months before everything is agreed and the letters and calls start to die down and very much depends on your creditors.
As for your credit history. The DMP itself won't be on your credit history, but any late payments and default notices issued will be. The defaults I think, stay for 6 years from when they are issued. But I'm not certain on that. I'll let somebody more knowledgeable answer that one.LBM : March 2008
