Thanks again for your help, I'm feeling more positive already. Enjoy the rest of your day (hopefully in your newly mowed lawn that you will never have to mow again :D!)

    Sx

Well seeing as I am banned from gardening I have decided to upset him even more and plant a load more seeds, I am banned from the garden obviously so the patio door in the front room has lots of nicely lined up seed trays :rotfl:

Thanks Rayday, you are a great help.
Realistically, £500ish for one person to live on in terms of food, petrol (increasing I know but I would say I spend probably between £40-£50 a month) and going out is probably quite a lot in comparison to what some people have for a whole family.
My problem is that I have got used to buying what I want when I want it. I need a massive attitude adjustment.
I have cut up all my credit cards as well and I think I need to keep a strict spending diary to see where my money goes (I'm rather fond of a Starbucks latte & a chocolate shortbread - £4 a time!) and really ask myself whether I need it or not .
Let's face it; I have lived a life of buying what I want for so long, it's about time I tightened the purse strings.
I think I should keep a strict rein on myself for the next month and then if I am still struggling, I should call CCCS and seriously consider a dmp.
    Does that sound sensible?

Sorry, didn't actually answer your question - no I am not having to put bills on credit cards at all. Once credit card/loan etc payments gone and priority living expenses - rent, mobile etc then the rest is mine.
Gym membership expires in july so will cancel that then which will give me another £35 towards my debt.

I would try for that option! Invest in a capachino instant thingy bobs and one of those thermos cups and pretend its starbucks!

You are very brave with how you talk about yourself and spending - make me sound completely in denial - I should be more like you but instead I twist truths and have the odd luxuries - not Starbucks though! Went in my first one last year and was shocked they took switch cards until I saw the prices rofl!

Have a go at homebaking too - but then you may have to budget for weight watchers membership - home baking beats any store hands down.

    Hi Jenevieve,

After you have figured out exactly how much you have each month available for your creditors check out this calculator or what the overpayments would do to your debt: http://www.whatsthecost.com/snowball.aspx

Also have a look at the up your income forum in here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.html?f=145

If you are up for a challenge then here is for every occasion: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=767513

    Have fun!

Thanks for your advice, and Marru too. I'm not really that brave, it's easy enough to say these things but it's living the lifestyle day in day out that will eventually hammer my debts down and that is where I struggle.
I think I need to throw myself wholeheartedly into a DFW challenge and accept that I may have to do some serious soul-searching to figure out why I got myself into such a mess and let it stagnate for so long before facing up to it.

I did read somewhere where someone could afford papers and drinks etc but was only making minimum payments. SO everytime they resisted one of them they sent that small payment via internet banking to a credit card. Maybe if you did that you would see just how much it impacts and it could inspire you?

I missed yesterday's post for my DMP paperwork so, before I rush off for the day, I've got another question!

If I have any spare money, allowing for saving to make sure no horrible bill comes up and bites me, should I throw that at my debts? And if so, what do I do - do I make a payment off an individual debt, or put the money into the Payplan account to be shared out? I'm just thinking that I have two small debts to clear which I can probably throw some money at in a month or two if that's allowed. Then that leaves more going to PP to fewer creditors so they'll all get a bit more.
