DMP Mutual Support Thread (Part Three)

Loopy when we started our DMP we were paying £5 each to 21 creditors on a debt of £84000!! So don't worry.
Thanks that does make me feel better, but I am terrified that someone will try and bankrupt me - although that would be rather pointless as there isn't a lot of equity in the house as it is (certainly no where near enough to pay everyone) and with falling house prices, there probably won't be anything.
Just bracing myself for the onslaught although most creditors don't have our phone number as it was changed last year when we changed suppliers. I'm clinging to a small thread of hope that things will go better than I am hoping for...
And I have got a couple of months before things get too desperate so hopefully i can use that time to try to sort job etc with the help of the AD's which will hopefully make me feel more positive.0 -
Loopy, I've updated my signature with my debt, I couldn't bring myself to do it when I started, it was too scary
.
There are quite a few of us with BIG debts, you're not alone and it will get better:grouphug:.DMP Mutual Support Member 138Proud to have dealt with my debts

It made me laugh anyway, which was good because it's official - I'm depressed! Went to see doc who has signed me off and given me AD's. Only now I'm thinking maybe I was a bit hasty as:
Depression and anxiety go hand in hand, ll36. For a while you'll worry about almost everything under the sun but the AD's will help there too.0 -
Hiya everyone. This thread is a real rollercoaster read - I really get into everyone's emotions. Big hugs to everyone!
Just an update on my bank problems yesterday - they are looking to me getting rid of my overdraft completly. So a tighter belt for everyone in this house.DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0 -
Hi all.
Haven't been on this thread for a while.
Just started with CCCS after leaving Baines & Ernst.
Baines read a previous post I made on this thread and complained I had been unfair to them. They promised to sort things out between us then did nothing...bunch of wasters!! (Hope they read this too)
Loopy...You'll be ok...I've been in debt for a while and have had a couple of the creditors throw everything at me BUT sticking with the people here has taught me alot & has made me realise I can get through this no matter how long it takes.
Bye for now...:wave:0 -
Alex sounds like Baines scored a home goal - scarey that they read forums though, maybe their case loads are decreasing
My debt is pretty small but still will take about 20 years at current rate of paying to go and as you will all know I am self managed and they have accepted payments or referred onto DCA which have accepted. You have to offer what you have left over however small it is otherwise its pointless having a DMP.
DMPs are designed to get the balance back so we don't have to rely on credit again, so you need to be able to put money away each month in pots (banks are better). There is not much point struggling on a DMP becuase if you do have an emergency how will you fund it?

After my cheerful post yesterday I got a statement from Lloyds TSB today and they have started adding interest again  .
It looks like 6%pa, is it normal for them to do this after 6 months on DMP? Has anyone had any luck getting it stopped again?
I've typed up a letter to send but it's OHs account so will have to wait until he's home to sign it.

I daren't say too much as I have just done a review and will probably remind them I exist! But I have been nearly two years on mine and no interest that is with two credit card and one overdraft if that helps.0

Pardon me if I'm being thick (it's one of my talents).
Surely, unless you let your creditors know your username here, they can't tie anything up from this forum to your real identity can they?0 -
I meant in that quote I daren't say too much as they have not written to me for over a year and I have just paid the same payments. This week I have written and told them I want to increase so woken the beast so to speak.
As for identities, I did used to have company names and balances in my sig and I just thought one day it was a bit daft as if you put my username in google it does come up with a few sites etc. At the time I was getting weird phonecalls from First Plus - have nothing to do with now the account is clear but I had been in the press with stories to help others not do secured loans.0
