I want to apply of a DMP, but was just wondering does it make any difference if I go through CCCS or the National Debtline? I don't want to do it myself as i still get very intimidated by these credit people!
Thanks for your help

I would say if you know you can't cope with it yourself give the CCCS a ring or payplan they will both do the job for you.
It does get easier though so don't think you are going to feel this "intimidated" all the time. Before setting up and setting up a DMP is the worst it gets I think.0 -
Hi all, mind if i ask a few questions please. I am doing my first interview in the morning by phone with CCCS. Could you tell me what info they need , do they need account and ref numbers for loans cc etc as i will have to search for them all tonight. Also has anyone opened an account with the CO OP bank as i was wondering how long it would take to set up over the phone. I have my motgage coming out of my main account next Wed but i am already nearly up to my OD limit. Would it be ok to tell my main account about CCCS after Wed as they prob wont pay out on mortgage if they know . I will need to draw any money left on OD next THurs or wont have anything to live on for another week. I know its naughty but i dont know what else i could do.Hope this makes sense as i do waffle on a bit sorry. Thanks Bye for now
Oh lostalot. I did a comprehensive reply to you after your PM and it hasn't reached you coz there's a blip on my laptop - aarrgghh!
Sorry hun. Have you received your pack yet from CCCS? If so, complete the forms inside it by digging out all the paperwork you can and write it down on a single bit of paper, then at least when they ask you things like how much do you pay for Mtge/Rent, Gas etc., you have it all to hand in one place rather than shuffling through lots of paper.
I looked up the Co-op tel number online and gave them a call. I was told by them you couldn't apply for the "basic" account online - it must be a phone call. I was literally only on the phone 5-10 minutes and it was accepted there and then. I have to give them 48 hours to get the a/c set up at which point I can call them for the a/c number and sort code which will enable me to ring up the d/d people, tax credits and payroll dept today to have the payments redirected. I can then go online to my existing bankers and cancel the d/d's. I was supposed to do this yesterday however I had to attend my aunt's funeral so I will do it today.
I was upfront about my situation and simply said. I am considering a DMP and need a basic bank account, would you be able to help with that? They guy was SO friendly and put me at ease right away.
Hope this helps and again, I'm sorry you didn't receive my PM as I could have put your mind at rest much sooner.

Well.\I've had my interview and I'm not sure what to do next to be honest.
After looking at I&E, there was a £759 per month deficit and I am what they call a "zero balance budget"! The lady cut back everywhere and the following have to go each month - haircuts (only me at £20 every 8 weeks, all the rest of the family are cut by me), shopping back to £293 (already on grocery challenge and home made everything, plus shopping at Aldi), school dinners, school trips, 1 magazine at £4, hobbies, DS's rugby, DD's dance class, my 1 night out and OH's 1 day out, any takeaways (only 1 per month at most), beavers for DS and a sundry/emergency fund of £10.
These cutbacks enable her to fudge the figures so there is £12 left in other words, £1 to each of the 12 creditors.
At the moment, all I can see is a neverending debt until well beyond my lifetime and a lifetime of misery!
I'm waiting OH coming in from College where he's studying for a "trade" (he's done this to get away from all the noddy jobs our tourist town has to offer on minimum wage, so that we can have a decent standard of living within the next 2-3 years) so that I can have a good chat with him. It may be that we decide I will go bankrupt as the debt is in my name.
I'll keep you posted.

I have switched my salary away from the account with an O/D to my virgin oneaccount (royal bank of scotland)
The oneaccount is no longer a mortgage by the way.
Here's the question. The CC is with MBNA and the current account with RBS but they are both Virgin branded. Does this mean that when I default on my MBNA Cc that they will be able to take money from my RBS account?
I need to move on this one pretty quick.
Decided to be safe. Just applied for an account with A&L online and got it approved in under 5 mins!
TMD - wish I could say something to help. Just hang on to the fact that OH will have a trade and a decent income in a few years time. You can't pay what you don't have.0 -
Got to go away for a couple of days - got a pomotion board at work.
On the downside I have to do a number of exams + a 20 minute presentation.
On the upside, it's a couple of days where my creditors can't contact me, I get a night in a hotel at the companies expense (even though it's only a travelodge) and I get to put my food on the company credit card - so no spending of my own money :T
If I pass I get a payrise aswell so fingers crossed.
On the DMP side - still not much news - the usual post claiming no contact from me or payplan. Getting a bit bored of that now as I know they are lying as I sent stuff recorded. Lloyds and GE Money are irratating me the most the rest are starting to behave or at least making the right noises.LBM : March 2008

Good afternoon folks. Just popped in to say hello and see how everyone is.
Truly, the minimum for Payplan is £100. Can you do anything to get this as surplus? Especially as you know your income will improve in the future.
Andy, we were fortunate enough to get an A&L account before OH's credit file was shot to pieces!
Tigert, we have the usual rubbish with Lloyds so hang on in there. I know it's boring having to repeat yourself to them constantly, but they are trying it on at the moment. They have just slapped a Default on OH but Payplan said this is a good thing as they should stop interest etc now.
It's been very, very quiet on the creditor front this week. Obviously they don't want to talk to us at the moment. I'm sure it is the lull before the storm however.
I'm saving for a new pair of shoes for the summer. I have £1.60 so far! tee hee ...*Official DMP Mutual Support Club Member No 147**Official DFW Nerd Club Member No 923*I have no idea what I'm talking about!0 -

I have to wonder at the wisdom of this maxim. Imagine being on a horse which is about 5ft from a very high brick wall and is heading straight for it. You're not sure if you should turn left or right.
By your advice, I'm in doubt and should therefore gallop. Actually, given my current situation, galloping at a brick wall might be a good idea.
Forget I said anything.
Carry on.0 -
Hi guys,
There seems to be alot of people just starting their DMPs and I just wanted to say good luck.
The first few weeks can be stressful but just remember they can't have money you haven't got! When the creditors phone just quote your DMP number at them and tell them to contact Payplan or CCCS, whoever it is you're with. In a couple of months you'll look back and realise it's the best thing you ever did. You can actually have a bank account in credit instead of every penny you earn going on interest payments.
I had been getting nervous because some of our creditors had only agreed our DMP for 6 months from last September so I had been expecting calls etc. to start again. On Monday I received letters from M&S (2 accounts) extending the agreement to February 2009 and today a letter from HFC extending to October 2008. No phone calls and no hassle :T .
Thought I'd let everyone know that sometimes it is easy instead of only posting when I've got problems or questions.
Take care,
Sam,
x.
p.s. Tigert, good luck with the promotion!DMP Mutual Support Member 138Proud to have dealt with my debts
