Hi andytwonames. Yeah, I know about "stuff happens" alright. It was only when my cooker leg fell off and the cooker started burning a hole in the kitchen floor, the same week when I came downstairs to find the fridge/freezer had packed up too, that I tried to make a claim and was told "computer says no" as they hadn't received my D/D payment for 6 months. I went ballistic! They reckon they'd sent me a late D/D payment letter, a reminder letter to say we contacted you 3 weeks ago about an unpaid d/d and a final letter saying "contact us now or we'll cancel the policy". Now then, is our Postal Service in such disarray that not 1, but 3 letters never came through my letterbox. Me thinks their computer system had a hissyfit meself, but will they admit it? Nah. Ended up me paying almost £1k (yes, on credit card) to replace these items.
Will have a look at Quidco for a bit of cashback now.Decluttering junk and debt in 2016

TMD - what a nightmare! Sorry to hear about all of that. Not what you needed at all
andy - thanks for the tip. I'd go with Whoopie's advice about the token payments. You can't leave yourself without income for a month. I'm sure Payplan would advise the same thing. Make sure you keep your creditors informed and give them your case ID number. It takes 6-8 weeks to get up and going anyway.
Tigert - glad to hear (in some ways) you'll be around for a while. There are definitely worse places, but I know what you mean, it would be great to be here without the money stress!
Weemac - welcome. It might be because they only agreed the arrangement for 6 months originally. That happened to me. I suggest you call CCCS/Payplan who will send them a letter and perhaps call the creditors directly explaining that you will be having a yearly review with Payplan/CCCS in xxxx 2008, but until then the arrangement should continue as agreed. It's probably a computer generated action and I'm sure things will be sorted out once you speak to a human being. Do I detect a fellow Scot on the thread?!

Still having hassle from 1st Credit....another phonecall today asking if i could make a lump payment....told them no not in a position....asked f I could make an offer of £72 a month to stop their legal dept., taking action...again said no...only payment available was the one Payplan were offering through my DMP of £28.14.......told them I would need to talk to Payplan again....they said..thing is payplan pay pro rato....so if i found extra income..[ dunno where from mind!!! ] this would be taken up as Payplan would increase all creditors payments....yes I know that.
Thing that struck me was that they know they won't get anymore than what their getting through Payplan....so are trying to get me to come from Payplan
and pay them more [not quite sure how ] without Payplan and other creditors knowing......
now there is no way I can afford to pay them any higher amount, they have given me another week to see if I can get them a lump sum......if I can't they said their legal dept., will seek court action resulting in ccj...and possibly a warrant for balifs to enter my home.
But surely if it goes to court and its decided that the amount I'm paying is all I can afford and the payments are being recieved they cannot a warrant for baliffs?
I don't own my own home either.
Any advice greatly appreciated0 -
Hi skibadee - I'm not trying to belittle your situation, only put you at ease. These are very "normal" tactics, they'll say almost anything to bully you into making a bigger payment, especially at the start. Often, the people who call are on commission. You cannot pay more than you can afford, you have taken the very responsible step of seeking advice from Payplan and the courts (if it ever got that far, which it's unlikely to) would support this. You can demand that they only contact you by letter from now on. This is your right.
Please try not to worry too much. I know it's easier said than done, but the calls do stop eventually. Hang in there

Hi all
Thanks for the replies and for the info about wage slips etc..
I have been trying to get my finances sorted today and rang barclays debt collection services to get my balances off them now they offered me and full and final settlement figure of £800 now we owe them about £880 over three accounts we cant afford £800 but could afford it if it was a bit less.
Does anyone think this is a good idea though to pay them off will it upset my other creditors i keep thinking well thats 3 debts paid but also i dont want to upset my other creditors but what about if i gave each of them a token payment do you think that would be ok.
Thanks

Lisabell - I really don't know that answer to that one, apart from advising you to speak too CCCS\Payplan. I'm interest to hear what everyone else would do. I'm hoping to be in the same boat in a few months! Let me know how you get on.
Rayday - hi and thanks for keeping the numbers ticking over.
