Hi Lisabell,
I have just sent all my paperwork to CCCS to set up my DMP and all I have been asked to provide is my payslip for proof of earnings.
When I originally got my paperwork to prepare for my telephone appointment with CCCS there was a list that asked you to tick if you had evidence of different outgoings on the list, so I did think they might want them. In fact it has never been mentioned and we have agreed the budget to be sent to my creditors, so can't see them asking now. I've only mentioned this in case you see the same paperwork and panic. In fact I got the impression from my Counsellor that within reason they want you to pad things out a bit just to make sure you can stick to any agreement you reach.
Hope all goes well, I was really horrified to hear how much you were paying to the company managing your DMP. To be honest I think they are vultures.

I don't know much. (Just started to talk to cccs) I think being without contents insurance for any length of time is a bad idea. 'stuff happens' as they say and if the stuff happens when you're not insured, you're sunk.
Contents insurance is not that dear and it must be a reasonable expense so I say get some.
My debt of 31000 looks like it will take 9 years to pay off. My immediate problem is that payday is not 'till 26th and the bank accounts are empty. My three cc's are each within a hundred or so of their limits and I'm going to have to max them out to survive to payday so I can't kick off the suggested DMP yet or the cards will stop working and we will starve.
April and May are going to be expensive since the car needs an MOT and tax and the teenage boy needs new shoes (current ones have holes - it really is need rather than want).
My idea at the moment is to get the April paypacket and then not pay anything to any of the cards and hope that the DMP takes a month to kick in so I get one months buffer money.
On the other hand, this may upset the cc companys and this may not be a good idea.
Anyone have any thoughts?0 -
Hi Andytwonames, I totally agree about the contents insurance. As you say, 'stuff happens'. I wanted to mention buildings insurance cover too. It worth checking that if you rent, the landlord has the buildings insurance cover sorted. Usually, this is the case. If you have a mortgage then, its up to you to have cover in place. Most lenders insist that you take out cover right at the start of the mortgage agreement. The reason I mention this though, is that some people take out buildings insurance cover separately from the mortgage provider and when could cancel it when the going gets tough. I'd say buildings cover is even more important than contents and can be included with no issues on a dmp. Many policies are combined, contents and buildings so you can have both on the dmp as one expense.0

Hello C9,
As I understand things, all the risks covered by buildings insurance are things which are the responsibility of the landlord.
I strongly suggest going to the insurance forum and check this out. To my mind, if you buy buildings insurance, YOU are paying to protect the landlords property.
Anyone got advice for me on my questions by the way?

Hello Andy. If you are entering into a DMP, then send token payments to the creditors (£1 each, postal orders) explaining that you are about to embark on the DMP. This will give you the extra money you need until everything is up and running.
We had to do the same thing as we had no money and car expenses etc. Everything is in place now with the amounts paid to each creditor as set out in the DMP.
Also, is there anything you can sell on Ebay/car boot? We managed to get rid of a fair amount of gear we no longer needed and this paid for some of the car repairs, etc.*Official DMP Mutual Support Club Member No 147**Official DFW Nerd Club Member No 923*I have no idea what I'm talking about!0 -

That's good news. thanks for the advice. I will certainly do that.WhoopieDoodle wrote: »We had to do the same thing as we had no money and car expenses etc. Everything is in place now with the amounts paid to each creditor as set out in the DMP.
The car in question does under 5000 miles a year and will probably be ok but you never know. Good news here is that my dad (75 yrs old) worked on cars for a living and has all the tools and the knowhow. He points and I do. On the other car, I recently changed the thermostat, two anti-roll bar bushes, the rear shock absorbers and serviced the rear brakes all for just over 100quid (sorry, got an american keyboard at work - no pound sign). I had to take a couple of days off work and spend them on my back but that was ok.WhoopieDoodle wrote: »Also, is there anything you can sell on Ebay/car boot? I have a loft full of junk that I don't want and I can't imagine that anyone else wants it either but I guess it may be worth a go.
Thanks again.0 -
Hello!
Seem to have missed so much in a few days - if there is anyone who wanted adding to the list on first page just shout.
I thought I would do a review today for my DMP with the lower mortgage payments a month so have posted all those letters out before I think twice about it. I haven't written to Capquest I just changed their standing order as they wrote to say they would accept my last offer until 2046 and I don't particularly want to wake them up!
Hope everyone has had a good weekend. Big welcome to any new people!0 -
Hi all!!
We have been on our DMP since October last year and all our creditors except Sainsburys have stopped interest including Capital One. Their bill came in today and they have started charging us interest again from next month!! Why have they started charging again as we have been paying our amount to them as required and at the top of their bill it says "we will not add interest or charges to your account whilst you keep to your payment arrangement".
Should I contact CCCS who we have our DMP with and get them to speak to Capital One for us? The balance is never going to go down at this rate if they all start charging interest again!!!

P.S. £60 for a new tyre... my forth one since I bought my car a year and a half ago, boooooooo!!
I had to replace 2 tyres on my car. I rang all the local tyre bays and the price was around 65 quid per tyre.
I have a costco card and the same tyre from them was 45 each.
If you can get a costco card, or know someone who has one, it's worth a go.0 -
