Thank you for the hugs. I'm feeling a bit better now. Have spent this evening re-doing the menus for the week and therefore the shopping list so that we can go shopping tomorrow evening and be more frugal. My plan is for us to live off beans or cheese on toast for a while (say six months) that should reduce the outgoings drastically! Seriously though I've manged to chop it down quite a bit so feel like I've done something useful this evening.

Still waiting for confirmation from the bank that they'll be happy with the overdraft to stay at £500. If they are my plan is not to borrow money from my mum in law, but to use the money I have put away for the treats for the kids and Christmas etc and then use the next three months, paying the some more off over the next three months. As soon as it's down to a level they're happy with, I'll continue to pay off £20 each month, so that when the next review comes my account will at least show that I've been trying to reduce it.

Fingers crossed that they are content to leave it at £500!

    Hi guys!

YM - lovely to hear your cheerful chuckles first thing in the morning :D Hope you've had a good day.

silou - thanks, hopefully one of us will get to the bottom of it eventually.

Whoopie - "And IIIIIIIiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-e-iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii will always, be skinnnnnnnnnnnnt, will always be brokkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkke" is what I'm singing just now as far as our Whintney goes  Or "they'll never take our freedom" in the words of the mighty Braveheart (aka Mel Gibson!).

Weemac - fingers crossed. Small world eh, I also live in central Scotland, near Stirling

MSMOO - aka moneysavingmumofone - I would put down the lower amount to start with. You could maybe check with CCCS, but I'd avoid having to change your I&E during the year as much as poss. It should help you get up and running while you are still receiving the bigger payment. Good luck!

hamsterpoo - Great news :T Good job Mrs H!

milliejon - What a horrible day you've had. You must feel drained. It's a difficult situation and not what you need at all, but it sounds like you've dealt admirably with it, reasoning with Tesco and keeping the lines of communication open. It's great that your mum-in-law is able to help out, but I understand that things will still be tight for a while. Best of luck with it all and remember we are always around if you need a moan or a bit of support.

Skintearl - welcome! Sounds like things are moving along for you and you've set yourself a motivating and exciting target. Usually, any overdrafts from current accounts would be included as one of your DMP debts and be paid off in the same way as the rest. It's not really fair on your other creditors if this doesn't happen. For this reason, your current account may be closed down. Make sure you open up another account which is INDEPENDENT OF ALL YOUR CREDITORS and move your salary and all direct debits to is asap. This will avoid your next salary payment being swallowed by your bank to pay off the overdraft in one go.

RS - aren't mums great? Glad to hear things are ticking along. How was the tea and hot bath? Dress shopping went v well thanks, remembered to defuzz, avoiding an embarrassing moment, only to be replaced by another. I got completely stuck in a size 8 sample (I wasn't a size 8 when I came out of my mother's womb!) and thought I'd have to buy it cos I couldn't get out of it without hacking it to bit!

hunteress - Hellllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!! It's so lovely to hear from you. How are things? Hope all is well. I nearly spilled a glass of Irn Bru on my new rug the other day and thought of you :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

rayday - hello :hello: I don't know how you manage to keep up with all these numbers, and I'm a maths teacher!

All is well with me. I was a bit naughty again today and spent £5 on buying ice cream for the people I spent the day with. I need to stop doing this, as I should be thinking of my debts at all times, but it's nice to treat your friends, I hate not being able to do it :( But hey ho, if that's the worst thing I have to worry about, I'm a lucky lassie

    Speak soon, smilealot :rolleyes2
