Hi Loopylu, have you tried the co-op? I have a cashminder account with them and use it online all the time. Only took a 5 minute call to open it. Good luck!

Just tried to get account with Nationwide and they are offering cashcard only - really need to have debit card for work. Think i may have to balance transfer mbna to hsbc card. Don't suppose they will like it much, but i can't risk MBNA cleaning out the b/a! Have just set up new DD's and everything. Haven;t actually signed the forms and sent them back to CCCS, so not breaking the rules yet :o . They (cc's not cccs) will just have to lump it I'm afraid. I did mention this to them when i phoned them last week as I was intending to shift several small balances onto one card, just to make things simpler - he didn't seem to thnk that this was a problem as I'm not adding to the debt anyway just moving it around. I think I am really going to struggle to get a bank account anywhere else, as have so many different creditors.

Thanks Bigid, but i have a credit card with Co-Op - was Northern Rock originally. Have cc's with everyone I think!!
  • No I stopped with Alliance as at the time my credit rating was very good and now it is well.....crap.
I doubt that I`d be able to get a decent account with a debit card and t`internet banking, and anyway they sort of have done me a favour as MBNA card has been paid thanks to them robbing my account, but it wasn`t pleasant having to go to my dad and borrow some money to live on for a week until pay day!

How much did they take? If they took my entire debt I would need to borrow enough to live on for a year!! Have one CC with MNBA at £7,600 and one at £1,800. Think like i said I am going to have to balance transfer it - have JUST enough available credit elsewhere! Apart from MBNA issue, think A&L account and everything else is sorted - they aren't linked to anyone else are they?!

YM - don't worry, there was no discussion about my predicament and how I got there, just a very quick conversation where I was asked if any of my contact details had changed, gave my updated income figure then went through each expense on the budget form and decided which needed to change. Then they calculated how much I had left to pay each month. I'd suggest you print out the budget form first so you can decide which figures to give. Then she asked if I was having any probs with creditors, so I mentioned Cahoot who are charging me £30pm for non-payment of Direct Debit. I had a bit of a moan about not being able to get a mortgage and she was really understanding, even referred me to a company who are linked to PayPlan to have a chat about my options. That was it - no scary "yes I was a stupid spendaholic in the past and now I promise I have learned my lesson" business :j :j

Just wanted to refer the peeps looking for a new bank account to this document produced by Payplan (but applicable for us all) which discusses the types of account and the second page shows the actual accounts offered, whether they give a debit card and who they are linked to. I really sorted me out at the beginning. Hope it helps:

Sorry to hear you've been having such a rotten time of it sunshine, I'd definitely look into changing your phone number - I did and as I said it was due to nuisance calls, I got it done for free. I'm not sure what you ought to do, I'd just encourage you to speak to CCCS about it all, they're great at liaising with creditors and deciding how much should go to each one. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

P.S. Hi teecee, haven't spoken to you in a while :hello:

Thanks for that link smilealot, but i am struggling to see where it tells you who is linked to who?

It's generallly going from being quite a good day (got all dmp paperwork together and sun is shining:D ) to a rubbish one. Boiler has decided to go on the blink, as has my iron (don't what it is with me and irons - they never last me more than six months) and then this "issue" with MBNA. I guess that's three or does the bank thing not count do we think? Don't you ever just want to lay your head down permanantly? Sorry, being bit a drama queen there would never seriously consider it, but all this money marlarky is so tiring and draining isn't it? And just when you think you've cracked it something kicks you up the a hole!!

Anyway, can I have opinions on whether it is morally wrong of me to transfer my MBNA balance to HSBC (who i just about have enough credit with to do it)? I do feel abit bad about it as about to start DMP but I just can't risk MBNA cleaning out my bank account. On the other hand how moral of MBNA is it to clean out someone to the extent that they can't fee their family - somehow I don't think they care about that.

Mind you my review is due in the next few weeks and I will wait and see how the creditors react when I cant up my payments  oh well like I always say if I aint gotit.....they can't have it!!!

Hope everyone is well and having alovely weekend. The weather is gorgeous here today and that in itself is making me feel good.

There is some info (but hardly complete) on which creditors are linked to who here:

    http://www.payplan.com/debt-library/miscellaneous.php

It also tells you who their "in house" collection agencies and solicitors are.

Oh no, I've just read through the document and it looks like they've changed it :( It used to have a column with the links to other companies, but it's disappeared. Perhaps they were worried about changes and if they didn't update it regularly they would be liable?

I've found this, it outlines in sections which banks & creditors are connected in come way:

    Hope it helps.
