Thanks (again!) Fermi
I have just remembered that I have a Halifax card cash account that is years old - are HBOS - Bank of Scotland or Royal Bank of Scotland? I don't have any debts with BoS or Halifax - at least not that i know of - this is such a nightmare! Just had another thought - what if i just use MY account at A&L and hubbie has his wages paid into that - I assume MBNA can't take MY money to pay HIS debt? The card is in his name not mine and we can close his account with A&L.0 -
Ha ha, great minds fermi!!
teecee - I don't think they expect you to up the payments. In some ways, I'm now thinking that I shouldn't have upped mine and saved the extra cash instead to make a F&F payment, but hey ho, I'll maybe do that next year. I'm quite excited at the moment as I've started really scrimping and I'd forgotten how fun it is seeing the pennies add up. Although, the unexpected expenses are annoying, like my flat tyre this week!! Glad to hear your weather is nice and things are quiet. Long may it last!

The old BOS are now HBOS (Halifax Bank of Scotland).
RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland) are different, and include NastyWest I think.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Halifax are linked to BOS not RBOS. Not sure he'll be able to pay his wages in unless his name is on the account, but I'm not sure. I'd got for complete independence, as even if they can't take the money, you don't want them being able to see what's in your accounts.Member #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

I have a small(ish)debt with Morgan Stanley approx £1100 and I know if I tried even harder I could save enough to offer a full and final settlement maybe this time next yearDo I have to let CCCS know about any offer I make?
As far as I am aware they like you to treat all creditors equally and would suggest I share any spare cash amongst them all. But I would love to be rid of at least one creditor before I'm old and grey! The other debts are all over £3500 to my remaining creditors so there is no way I will be able to offer F&F to anyone else.DEBTS @ 1/1/07 - £25,800:eek: DEBT @ 04/05/11 - NIL

I'm pretty much the same teecee, I've got three creditors between £1000 and £2000 but my others are big 'uns! I'd love to work towards clearing the smaller ones so the rest of my DMP payments get split between fewer creditors. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if you pay off a creditor earlier, as the remaining ones will get their money earlier as a result. My plan (hopefully by this time next year) is to approach a couple of my smaller creditors with a letter offering a F&F and see what happens. Of course, that's the easy bit, it's the saving the money that's difficult!!!Member #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

I wonder how Joek is getting on teecee. Hope he's still on the wagon. I'll never forget one night we were all chatting on here, I had tears running down my face and it was during the worst time of getting things up and running and getting creditor calls. It was such light relief!Member #4 of the DMP Mutual Support Club - DFW Nerd #335

sunshine38 - I don't think there is anyone on this planet who has not worked out that things are getting more expensive. With the CCCS behind you this time I think most companies would accept it anyway.
Just in case you ever go it alone next time, you don't have to work out pro-rata payments (although i could bore you with the formula) there is a budget calculator spreadsheet on the National Debt Helpline website that does it for you!
But I think you could probably do with some morale support now and have done the best thing possible. Now you have made those first steps it will be easier.
Thanks Rayday2, I would prefer to try and deal with things myself - I think I've just ran out of steam because I feel like we're back to square one. Having been poorly this last week hasnt helped me obviously so as soon as I can muster up the energy and fighting spirit I will re-jig the budget sheet and then send letters to the creditors again saying that I will have to reduce what we currently pay (and then run to hide under the duvet :rotfl: )
I will be back (:D ) and hope you all wont mind me popping in for some support - you're right, I do need some!
Hope you've all had a good day.

Thats exactly my situation!
I'm quite good with my budget and I even manage to allow for some treats eg. budget for a takeaway for me and DD at least once a month and save money to cover all my big expenses cartax, mot etc but I really need to get motivated to start saving with a view to paying off at least my smaller debt.
Sometimes I think that because life on the DMP is soooo much easier than before it, I get a bit complacent and don't try so hard.
Had £7 left from food budget this month and instead of putting it towards paying debts I spent it on a bottle of wine and fish and chips last night:mad:DEBTS @ 1/1/07 - £25,800:eek: DEBT @ 04/05/11 - NIL
