Morning all...................((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) if you need one.......
Late posting, we sleot in this morning. For 2 days we have had what appeared to be the sound of water running in our bedroom, finally discovered this morning, its the damn heating, the rad they put in has a bypass on it, so if the heating calls for heat from the main thermostat, the sound of the water being drawm through the pipes keeps us awake. The only way I can stop it is to set the rad thermostat at 5.....................and keep the window wide open.....................I will best it eventually, just need to work out the optimum temp on the main thermostat. This building needs to be upgraded so badly, it was built in 1978 wih a one pipe district heating system..........it works ok till radiators have to be replaced..............
A laod of washing in and one to go in, will be off in a mo to put the first lot in the dryer.
My friend got her op on Tuesday, had a phone call this morning, she is hoping to go home tomorrow.......is walking with a walker..........so the signs are good.
Right off for a cupa then to see to the laundry..............
Happy Birthday Jackie O hope you have agreat day..............Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Morning Everyone
Happy Birthday Jackie O, enjoy your day.
Another one who is completely disorganised. I really need a kick up the backside. DD is at nursery so I should be wizzing round getting stuff done but I have only managed to unload and reload the dishwasher and sweep the floor in the lounge.
Have a good day everyoneSorting my life out one day at a time0 -

csarina - we have that problem.............sound of water running down. I wondered what it was for a start but its the radiators filling up ! Boiler was replaced just over a year ago but not the pipes. Someone suggested 'bleeding' the radiators but I don't know enough about that sort of thing.......nor does OH. Least we haven't got a leak which is what we first thought it was.Mary

To bleed radiators you need a radiator key which you can get from Wilkinsons. At the top of the radiator, at one end there will be a square bit that the key fits onto..............make sure you have a cloth and a bowl of some sort, open the rad with the key by turning it gently towards you (I think) you will hear air escapiing.........be ready, as soon as you hear water begin to bubble very quickly turn the key back and close the valve. I always have a rag in my hand, the stuff that comes out of the rad is usually black sludge like stuff, you do not want that on your carpets believe me.......
You will find that gradually the heat comes up the radiator as the water replaces the air..........it used to be our bathroom rad that needed bleeding evry year when the heating went back on, don't know why!!!!!
I am going to have a try over the next couple of days and see if I can sort it, it had not happened until the night before last when it kept me awake until the heat switched off when the sitting room reached it optimum temperature. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Afternoon all and many happy returns to Jackie O who shares her birthday with Thriftling number 2, he's 11 today.
I've just made him a cake and bowl of bright green (it actually glows!) buttercream to go on top of it along with some smarties. I haven't bought smarties for ages -what's happened to them ? They're definitely less colourful than they used to be.
He's requested sausages and yorkshire puds for tea, so more batter to make.0 -
Hello again :hello:
Happy Birthday to Master Thrift.
Glad things have been sorted for your mum's funeral Hillstep.
I had a long lie this morning after my late night.OH finished the wardrobe last night so I have been organising it today.
Lamb shoulder chops in the SC and not alot else planned for today.
Take care all.

csarina - think we've got a radiator key somewhere lurking in a drawer.I'll look it out and nudge OH about it.
Feeling bit miffed..............bought some ink of internet and had free pack of photo card with it. Trouble is its small........about 6 in by 4 in and I haven't a clue how to use it in my printer. Blessed if I can find the instruction book but if I remember rightly, last time I had to check it for something it was useless. On the printer it shows where to put envelopes in but thats about it really.
I'm afraid to just shove one of these small bits of photo card in it in case it gets jammed............looked on Technic Board and reckon they'll think I'm batty if I put a query like that on there...................lol
So..............bit more to freecycle I think. Have to find a box of other stuff to put with it to make it worth while someone collecting........Mary
