Happy birthday Jackie O
Hello all!
Well, DW is on, WM has been on and I've been to the butchers, the fishmonger and the fruit and veg shop. I've got a pavlova in the oven, made some caramel sauce to go with it and its cooling in the fridge and have made salsa verde for the first time ever as well as some giant stuffed mushrooms.
Made a big mistake in the butchers and got a leg of lamb and paid £15 for it! In hindsight I should have got a lamb shoulder as it would have been cheaper. We do have people coming for tea tomorrow night and there will be left overs though. Serves me right for going to the super fancy posh butchers next to the fishmongers instead of the normal one I go to. Oh, well, there meat is normally a bit better (and so it should be!)
On happy news- bank statement came today and its the first one since I started my spending diary and it has made a difference! I spent £200 less than was paid in, and that was in a month that included taxing , MOTing and servicing my car (cost was split with OH). Keeping a spending diary is really making me think about what I am buying and helping me keep an eye on how much money I have been spending on things like makeup, toiletries and rubbish clothes that fall apart!0 -
csarina - think we've got a radiator key somewhere lurking in a drawer.I'll look it out and nudge OH about it.
Mary, to chech which radiators need bleeding, put your heating onto all radiators for about 30 mins. After that time they should all be warm. Have a feel of each radiator, and if they're warm at the bottom but still cold at the top, that means you have an air pocket in that radiator, so the hot water can't fill it up. They're the ones that need bleeding.

HI all; just taking a break on here with a cuppa.
JACKIEO - glad to read your upbeat posts! enjoy the rest of your birthday. Shame you can't have any booze yet.
MARY43 - there should be a moveable guide where you put the paper in on your printer. You should be able to slide it along to take any size of paper up to A4.
HILSTEP - (((Hugs))) to you; at least you'll be able say goodbye properly to your dear Mamma.
Happy Birthday to Master Thriftling - have a geat day!
CATZNINE - your poor DD, that's awful for her.
IRISHMUMMY - I would reiterate what PinkWinged said and make him eat all the crap himself!
CRAZY - hope the visit to the vet's goes smoothly.
Well, I have managed to get loads done so far but loads more still to do. I have spent the last four hours working, still haven't done the ironing (but I will, in a minute, honest!), walked up to the post office to post off DH's CIS forms to HMRC, made & posted a card to my Mum for my Dad when she visits the crematorium on Saturday. He's been gone 39 years now and I think about him every day. I can't always get up there because I live a couple of hundred miles away but my Mum will open the card and leave it standing in the chapel. She always buys a Valentine's Day card and takes it up there and the thought of it always makes me cry - she has had to live without him since she was 38 years old (she's 77 now) and it's just so unfair. She finds it hard looking at photos of us all as children because it reminds her of him and just makes her feel cheated. She should be enjoying retirement with him, not just thinking about him.
Wow, that was profound - it just came from the heart, I think, and now I feel very teary.
Well, I have a stew on the hob bubbling away for dinner and rice pud in the oven so I won't have to stop and get the dinner on; I can carry on working until DH gets in around 6pm. I think I'd better get the ironing done now and then do some more work.
Hope everyone is having a good day and will see you later.

Kathy,
That is so sad about your mum, poor her and you loosing him so young, it really does make you think, sometimes I have a good old moan about my OH, but I am so glad he is here.
Hugs hugs to you and your mum xxxxxx0 -
Hi Guys!
Happy Birthday Jackieo:j :j :j
Miloiere-Hugs hun...keep your chin up and hugs to your mum. 38 is young to loose a partner.
Have had a pretty quiet day. DD is still off school as she's still not feeling too good. She is hoping to get there tomorrow, but we shall see:rolleyes:
2 loads of bedding has been washed and dried outside as the sun has been shining here although it is quite cold. DW has been on and needs emptying and the cleaners have been today, so house nice and tidy.
OH has been clearing through more of his [strike]junk [/strike]stuff in the shed/office and he has binned loads:T ...he has been quite busy.
The lady came to pick up my old wheelchair yesterday and she was lovely. She has similar illnesses to me, so have agreed to keep in contact and we have added each other to our MSN list. She was a prison officer and understood how I feel about being frustrated indoors and not being able to work. She seemed a lovely lady and the chair was going to be used for her mum. I also gave her some Fortisip which were the non-protein ones as I cant have them now and she was very grateful.
I am not having much luck with my home testing of my INR as have 3 very bruised fingers. It looks so eay in the video:eek:   ...will get the clinic to show me again on Monday.
Our (kind of) friends son popped round for dinner last night and its really sad that he was basically kicked out of home as he didnt get along with the stepdad. He stopped round for 3 hours and took a couple of portions of Lasagne back with him. I think we are going to make a regular thing of it and we can also keep an eye on him and make sure he's ok;)
Anyway, hope everyone is ok.
Hugs to all.

There's a guide for A4 and envelopes but cant see anything else. Found instruction manual and there's nothing in there either so I'll try the 'help' link on computer.
Hugs to both you and your mum (((((((((((:o ))))))))))) I lost my first hubby when he was 33............my oldest son it 40 this year and spitting image of his dad, right down to mannerisms, things he says ............sometimes its re-assuring to see him like that, other times it makes me feel a bit weepy.
I know how your mum must feel..............bless herMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !
