The Acer Revo R3700 uses 25W.
And you can get lots of monitors that use 10W.
See this link:
http://www.energystar.gov/index.cfm?c=products.pr_find_es_products
Click on displays and then "find a model" at the top right.
If you changed every gadget, like fridges, kettles, etc to the lowest power one, then there are serious savings. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

However, interesting to see different brands categorised (A/B/C/D) by power requirements. If I'm comparing the right sections (this could be easier to read/better explained methinks), there are some about-average-spec Dell base units (not including monitors) using as much power as a top-spec Apple iMac with a 27" screen. Ludicrous.
In fact the Dell/HP model numbers I recognise as commonly used for office machines seem to be generally quite bad.
Atom processor-based things (of which the Revo is one) seem to be generally lower powered though (one of the bits of information you might have if you're browsing in Comet/PC World).0 -
Yes the INTEL ATOM D525, dual core is the one in the Revo.
Just search google for "Acer Revo watts" or something and the figures are very very low. Also the standby power of these newer, more efficient gadget is more savings.
I think LCD use considerably more power, and obviously if you want a very fast PC, you will be using more power. However the Revo is fine for me as I just mainly browse. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
HI All,
I have a per paid meter, i have always put £60 per month on the key and some times had to top it up a tenner. over the last month ive put £140 on it. thats double. i have used nothing different everything is the same i haven't even use my heaters this winter! last night i checked the meter and i have used £6 in one day! Need helpp this is way too much i think,Proud to be dealing with my debtSISTER £400VANQUIS CC £3,0000 -
I easily use £150 per month in electric in winter, my flat isn't central heated so I'm using convector heaters and it costs a fortune. good news is it drops to no more than £30 each month in the summer, so i claw it all back during the warm months. in a cold snap i can almost hit £10 every 24 hours, it's a key meter too.
I've recently got onto my landlord about how drafty the flat is, front door is rubbish as are the windows especially since the storm we had and the seals are broken, so hopefully he's going to make sure the house is properly insulated and i won't have to pay out the !!!! just to keep my teeth from chattering.Oh, you wee bazza!0 -
I've only been in my current house for 5 months but so far the average electricity cost has been £36 per month. Not bad, considering we have been on a far from ideal tariff and have an electric shower plus lots of computers and gadgets.
With our new E.On SaveOnline 11 tariff it should be ~£32 per month.0 -

I'm having a similar problem. I didn't realise the flat I'd moved into had a pre payment meter (the landlord didn't even know the last tenants had had one installed til they moved out!), and it's costing a fortune. I'm almost scared to switch anything on these days because the meter is just eating the money! I'm only working part time at the moment too, so it's not fun! Gah!0 -
How does it cost more in winter..Is it because of the room heaters. If the people use nice quality wood shutters then i think the room itself will be hot.Well i have got very large bills in summer £160.Can u suggest me ways to reduce the bill.0

I've just been charged £1830 for a years worth of electric in a 2 bed flat by npower. Nearly 2 grand a year in electricity? Looking at what people pay on here for a house I think I'm being shafted completely.
Any advice on this would be appreciated.0 -
