we are with Scottish Power, but have always had issues with our electricity bills. We are on dual fuel at the min and pay £50 gas and £113 electricity.

We had a new meter installed a few years ago and I am wondering if its been wired correctly?

no one has ever checked it. We keep changing suppliers and things are ok for a while and then our bills go up again:eek:

    any advice anyone thanks

I changed to SP last year and couldn't understand why my payments were going up and up, especially as I had just had a new boiler fitted and had been paying £120 a month for both gas & electric and always been well within credit. When I queried this with them they discovered that I was being charged in imperial measurments for my gas when they should have been charging in metric. A new gas meter was fitted in 2004 and they blamed my previous supplier for not telling them! I have had about £450 in cancelled charges and am now back in credit!

As for your electric meter make sure you get it checked out.

£104 a month in total all year round, for both gas and electric combined paid by DD every month,, think its £64 for one and £40 for the other, Southern Electric on their cheapest rate but we still owe almost £200 never seems to come down. we do it online. every time i put in my meter reading it jumps from owed £20 to £190, we switch from one tariff to a lower charge tariff same company thinking in 4 months due to the difference in price of 1 compared to the other we would be down to at least half, and we're no better off.

the nice people @ npower droped our payments from about £90 a month for both to £41 @ month and gave us a credit of £300. we now have a dept of over £2500, they want £350 a month to clear the dept and cover monthly costs. i know its party our fault, but they hav'nt reviewed our dd for almost 2 years. and i don't read/can't make any sence of the statments they send out  not happy.
