  • It is obvious that the claim they made to me about them being a reputable company is a lie, the fact that they contacted me to offer a refund must mean that they are now getting worried about the potential threat of multiple court actions against them, i would advise everybody to say that in their letters, if they do not respond then go ahead on the MCOL site and sue them, they will pay up.
  • Hi, I'm another fool who's fallen for this, I've done everything I can to cause trouble for these guys but don't seem to be getting anywhere! Trading standards advised me to pursue them through my own legal action as they are operating within the law and the lady I spoke to said there was nothing they could do. I took it up with MCOL on advice of a solicitor, now a few weeks down the line and with costs piling up I've had to withdraw my claim, it's gonna end up costing me a lot more than I've already lost if I don't! So Hammond, looks like LEGAL ACTION DOES NOT SCARE THEM, they seemed more than happy to go the full distance with me, god knows how much money I might have lost. BE CAREFUL THOSE WHO WANT TO PERSUE VIA MCOL, in my experience it just costs an arm and a leg and get you nowhere.

Be really interesting to know why they gave you your money back Hammond, at the moment I'm quite a few quid out of pocket over this! They are not legit but are clearly legal at least!

I was not actually looking for this topic but general ideas to sell a vehicle.

It appears I have also been a member prone to this company, I was called last week when I first advertised my car, by 'audi' as I have an audi for sale, they said they have some potential buyers on there database at the dealers and would they like me to pass my details on to these audi dealers. I said yes and didn't hear anything from them.

I got a call yesterday and they wanted me to pay £99.(xx) for them to release the details to the buyers so they can come and view my vehicle. I did think, seems quite strange but thought lets give it ago, as they guarenteed my car would be sold in 7 days.

Come across this topic and what do you know, just another of the many scams I have been a member of :o

Reported to CC company and fraud department is looking into it and will get back to me in the next few days, they are still trading on your CC statement as 'vehicle world'

    Silly me ..

  • I cannot believe that trading standards are letting them get away with this, barnet TS told me if they recieved enough complaints they may get back to me for more information. How much proof do they need, it is yet another example of joe public being sh*t on, and being let down by useless council departments that tie themselves in knots in order to be more PC, it makes me sick. It is only when tv programmes get involved and highlight the scam to the nation, that anything gets done. I have not yet recieved my cheque, i will give them until thursday, then i will be back onto Mr Collins to see what is going on, if it is yet another delay tactic or scam then i will be going down the sueing route, now that they have contacted me there is a record of the conversation which is a good piece of evidence if needed.
  • thank you so much for this site. A man named Andrew King called me from this company yesterday. He was very pushy and very aggressive and seemed to take it for granted that I would give him my credit/debit card details without checking him out. He got really shirty when I insisted I needed to check with my husband before going ahead with this and kept going on and on about the fact that he sells all his vehicles and autotrader only sell about 7% of theirs. He also tried to sweeten the deal by telling me I had undervalued my car and that it wouldn't matter that it had a scrape on one door ! The buyers were not allowed to negotiate on price either ! Eventually I got rid of him off the phone and of course checked them out on the net - the first thing I found was this website. I had been suspicious anyway and this just confirmed it so when he phoned back I was ready for him. I told him I was not interested and had checked them on the internet. He as good as told me I was a fool for believing what I see on here !! I also told him I didn't like his manner but he still carried on trying to convince me.

Thank goodness for sites like this - I was suspicious anyway because it all sounded too good to be true - who would pay more than a vehicle was worth just because they were getting finance ?

Thank you - this really helped me. I'm only sorry that I have benefited from other peoples misfortune.

Hmm - very angry, i am not sure whether or not you are a mole who actually works for the company and is trying to put people off the MCOL route.
Anyway i now have cheque in my hand so i can put an end to this sorry saga, i can safely say i will not be caught out again by a scam like this.
All i can say to everybody who is struggling is keep writing to them and keep a record of letters sent and phone calls, make them understand that you will not let the matter drop and will sue if required. That is all i did, i do have a friend who is a solicitor and he would have helped with the claim, maybe that is what helped, who knows.
    Good luck everyone.
  • Well I just recieved a call from Vehicle World Services and thanks to my sceptical nature i asked them to call me back in 20 mins. I googled and came to this page - Thanks to all of you for this post....minus the ''happy client''' who I am assuming is employed or owns this sham of a business.

I have one some research and my finding are exactly how you've all described .....A TOTAL SHAM..... so frustrationg when you are trying to sell a car.

I plan to confront them with my findings when they call back!

    Stay tuned

be sure to ask him to check the MSE site for further details, it would be interesting to see him accuse all the posters in here of being liars.

  • I too got tricked by these villains. Once I realised this was a scam I wrote them a letter threatening them with legal action but got a letter about 3 weeks later saying that they acted in goodfaith and couldn't refund my letter.

Not happy with their lies I decided to claim my money back through HMS Money Claim.

    https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp

It costs £25 to use this but I decided to pursue with the claim as a point of principal. I was glad I did as within 1 week of registering the complaint I had a cheque from our friends at Vehicle World Services for a total of £124.99 (The £99.99 VWS fee plus the £25 HMS Money Claim fee)

Would recommend this cause of action for anybody who hasn't had any success with writing.

:j I simply don't believe it! To my amazement I got home last night to find a cheque from the cheating gits at VWS, to the tune of £124.99 - the £99.99 I foolishly handed over plus the £24.99 from the Money Claims Online submission......so effectively I have made 1p!

The cheque is now in my bank, I will only be happy once it clears! so fingers crossed for now.

Anyone caught out by VWS, please file a claim at MCOL:
    https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/csmco2/index.jsp
it seems to do the trick, I guess they wish to continue trading and therefore will pay out to avoid any major legal action.

Contact me if you wish to see the wording I used for the claim.

Thanks to all on the thread for the tips and advice :D
