I have just had a phone call from these people, i am a very causious person and they were so convincing, i looked at the website and very causiously said ok. i gave my details over to take 99.00 out of my account. when i come off the phone ot them, they were going to give me a call back with the athorisation code for the payment, in the mean time i typed in their name on google and found this forum, i very quickly phoned them back and said can you cancel the transaction i should really speak to my partner first and i will give you a call back tommorrow. Hopefully i have been lucky and have not been charged. Has anyone else been in this same situation?

I was in the same situation, i listened to these.....people.... and parted with my money, then as soon as i put the phone down i had a bad feeling, so googled them and in the first result was the word 'scam' and this forum. So i got straight back onto the phone and called them back, but obviously when i asked for the person who had just phoned me, she wasn't around. so i said i wanted to see how my advert ran in autotrader before i went ahead with vehicle world services, and they said they'd ring me back. TO MY SUPRISE a man did, i think he was the manager and said he'd send a cheque in the post....2 days later, cheque!
it has just cleared today, thank god, and i am done with them.

So, for anyone who sees this post IMMEDIATELY AFTER parting with your money, get on the phone ASAP and CANCEL!!

    hope this helps!!
  • Hello,
To my suprise i have recieved a cheque this morning. My advise to anyone in the same situation, cancel straight away or do not activate at all. Stear clear of these people thay are con artists. I was lucky this time. Hopefully all you other people out there that have been conned the same way will get your money back. Thank you all for your replys they were very helpful, I really thought that that was it my money was gone and i was never gonna see it again, but to my suprise they did actually stick to their word and send the cheque.
I really do hope all of you that have not been payed yet, do get paid.

    Thanks for your help again.

It would be interesting if any potential victims of this scam, would point them to this forum, I cant believe how useless Trading Standards are with this situation, surely they have enough complaints to go on by now. I feel like putting an ad in Autotrader specifically stating VWS as a scam, in HUGE bold writing on the top of every page!!!!

Should anyone be dealing with them currently, be sure to mention this thread and say "no thanks, ive read enough". Lets bring these scammers to their knees and watch this company crumble before our very eyes.

  • They tried to get me to part with £129.99 last month - but fortunately I "smelt a rat" and didn't give way to a very pushy Alex! He was most annoyed that he failed to convince me.

One option for those of you unfortunatle enough to have trusted them with your money is to make your views known to the company's directors - they are after all the ones responsible for the actions of the company and any 'miss selling or misrepresentations". They can be banned from being directors as well liable to legal action if fraud can be proven. However, they may be unaware of what some of their staff are doing to make a sale and will welcome your comments so that they can put things right!

Companies House holds the names and home addresses of the directors of:

    Vehicle World Services Ltd
    Registered Number 06096856
Registered address: 1146 High Road, London N20 0RA

The registered office needn't be where they trade from, and is often a 'service address' provided by a third party not involved in the operation. However, the directors' addresses are supposed to be current.

This information is in the public domain - that's why Companies House makes it available on application and payment of a nominal fee. It happens that I have that information and gladly make it available below to those of you who feel you might like to write to them and express your concerns directly. It's amazing that directors don't like their dissatisfied customers to know where they live. They prefer to hide away. A recorded delivery letter works wonders - especially if everyone does the same.

    The Directors are:

Christos Vassou, Date of Birth 28/12/1979 of 220 Waltham Way, Chingford, London E4 8AW, and

Yeliz Sabri, Date of Birth 28/05/1981, of 45 Derwent Avenue, Edmonton, London N18 1BP

    Good luck!

I doubt that the directors do not know what is going on, all the names of the sales people seem to be different which would indicate that it is the way the sales are conducted, also the pitch is the same. I am sure that they will be caught out soon, unless trading standards are completely incompetent, keep e-mailing them ( barnet trading standards)
  • Hi. Iv'e also been caught out by this scam. Iv'e sent a letter threatening legal action without any joy and am now proceeding with legal action through MCOL. Thanks for the help I've received from people on this forum. I will keep you informed.
  • Two weeks ago today, Tues 16 Sept, my partner fell for the Vehicle World Services telephone scam from James Harley. My partner felt stupid for falling for James' patter but, being the problem solver that I am & with the helpful advice from the people on this site, I wrote to Vehicle World Services Customer Information Office EVERY day for 5 days informing them of the immoral way they obtained the money, that we were taking them to petty sessions by Fri 12 Sept & writing to the Financial Ombudsman, BBC Watchdog & the Daily Mirror. I am happy to report that my partner was reimbursed, the cheque for 99.99 arrived this morning accompanied by a letter of apology for their 'admin error'. I'd also like to state that we have yet to receive a call from any of the 3 interested buyers Vehicle World Services said they had lined up for the car!! Thanks to all of you for the help & advice you posted on here! :T

wooohooo got a cheque today in the post! Go down the MCOL route if your llooking for a plan of attack (Money claim online) it worked for a few of us now...and theres even a post from Vehicle World Services person a few pages back trying to put people off using MCOL, but ignore it, it's a bluff!
  • I was scammed by vehicle world back in June. It was Alex Webster who convinced me, and i was so keen to sell my car I fell for it! 20 minutes after paying 129.99 i found this website and knew that i had been scammed. Considering vehicle world contacted me late on a friday, i had to wait till the following monday to speak to someone again. As soon as I asked for my money back as I knew it was all a scam the man i was speaking to...'William' got really aggressive and started basically shouting at me, I phoned the company about 20 times that day and they said all i could do was write a letter of complaint. So, i wrote a very professional letter saying how they had obtained my money by deception and that the letter was also being sent to trading standards, a national newspaper and watchdog. A few days later after not hearing anything I phoned vws again seeing if they had received my letter, they said they were investigating my case. I must of phoned them another ten times, getting more and more annoyed with the people i spoke to and their attitude towards me. The following week, i got my cheque in the post!

So my advice is to keep on at them and don't give up, even though it is a pain to do so! In the end they'll get sick of you like they did me! Good luck!
