My father has also been scammed by these. Thanks to the posts on this forum I've put a letter together which will be posted on monday. I spoke to these scammers on tuesday, someone claiming to be the customer services manager who was utterly rude and offensive. The customer service is disgusting so don't expect to have a civil conversation with them, if you are polite and civil you will still come under attack as they are very devensive over their sham business.
Again I thank the people from the previous posts and hope that more people do their homework before signing up to losing £99.99 of their hard earned cash.
Cheers

Yes another fool taken in by the vechicle world rip of merchants:mad:   . Can't believe I was taken in by the bull***t they came of with. I was called by a so called guy named Alex Webster who is very very convincing. I became immediately suspicious when I stupidly agreed to give my credit card details and when I realised that I was being conned, I contacted my credit card company to explain my plight and they have been really helpfull. They will investigate the disputed transaction which will hopefully be refunded to me. By the way the cost today was £129.99 & by hook or by crook I intend to hound the scamsters at vechicle world until I get my money back. I did call them back within 5 mins of giving my credit card details and spoke to another guy called 'William' who claimed he worked in the customer services team. He sounded exactly like Alex Webster, how surprising!! I told this William that I do not want this company marketing my car or doing any work on my behalf and that I was aware of the scam having read the numerous posts on this website. He tried to get me to change my mind but I stuck to my guns, he then told me I would have my money refunded within 3 days by cheque. I won't be holding my breath but I'm determined to get my money back and will take legal action if necessary.
I've also written to BBC Watchdog as I cannot believe after all these months these scamsters are still conning the public, what the heck have trading standards done to stop this outrage??? I will let you know if I manage to get a positive outcome to my story. aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh0 -
Trading Standards seem to be a complete waste of tax payers money, Im sure there job is to just take notes when you report something, and leave them on the huge pile of other notes, something to read for amusement when they're bored.:A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

Yep I've had a few phonecalls recently along the same line, 2 from Vehicle World, one from Car Data and one from Car Market- all on the guise that they have buyers ready to buy my car... rubbish. Plus they try and say that the reason the buyers don't contact me directly is that they purchase finance from their company... so watch out for that one. So sad how people can live conning others0

Just before i was refunded i recieved a call from william collins, he assured me that they were legitimate and that the problem had been traced to one particular salesperson. Obviously it was a blatant lie, i cannot see how trading standards are letting them trade, i have e-mailed them several times with no response. to add to the sham my car is still being ' actively marketed' on their website despite me selling it months ago, it just shows that they are complete con artists.0

Beguinning to wonder if anyone actually works at trading standards, complete & utter joke. You can kinda understand why people often take the law into their own hands when the 'authorities' concerned bury their heads in the sand. Anyway I think it would be a great idea if the lot of us got together & bombarded the gits at vechicle world, wouldn't that make a great news story in the local rags??? Ps: I'm still waiting on the calls I was promised yesterday, if they do happen to call I can't wait to spin them along, gonna waste a lot of their time hee hee hee.:D0

Hi
Sadly i am another person who got scammed by vehicle world services. Found this thread the day after i parted with my money and attempted to get my bank to stop the payment which they wouldn't.
I was told when i phoned VWS to write a letter of complaint which i did more than a fortnight ago. When i phoned last week i was told that they take complaints very seriously blah blah blah and that i should get a cheque for my refund soon.
Tried to phone again today and the number is just ringing out
Has anyone else had this problem? Also do you think at this point it is worth heading down the MCOL route?
Thanks for any help
Just realised i can't use MCOL since i live in Scotland has anyone used Small Claims in the sheriff court in scotland?0 -
Sorry I don't have any experience of the Scottish legal process however I would definately suggest you write a strong letter to VWS copying in your solicitor (even if you havn't appointed one), trading standards, newspapers, Watchdog etc etc. The more you do to hound them, then maybe they will get fed up with your name coming up all the time and hopefully they will refund you. Don't give up, we can't let these morons get away with benefiting from our hard earned pay.0

Hi
I have sent them a strong letter more than a fortnight ago, stating it was copied also to my solicitor. They have confirmed that they received that letter.
I will write another today and send that too.
Things have gotten slightly worse now in that the number which was ringing out this morning is now just giving an error tone and disconnecting me.
We have friends that stay in liverpool, could we use their address to go down the MCOL route?
Thanks0 -
It prob would be ok to use your friends address in Liverpool. I havn't yet went down the MCOL route myself (hoping I won't have to) so not quite sure what info you have to complete on the form ie: is there any checks carried out on your current address & if your name doesn't come up at that address would this present an additional problem for you? Just be aware of all the small print in case your claim could be rendered invalid.0
