I first cottoned on when they said they could get more for my car than any main dealer was asking, it's a Merc 4x4 and the market is very tight at the moment. Yes ..., I was tempted ,Alex Webster is very convincing and seems such a pleasent guy.A number they gave me was 0208 4923932. If it is genuine surley a couple of names and phone numbers of satisfied customers would help,if they could sell my car for £2000 more than I want , I'd even split the difference with them. Oh... and the fee was£120 today 18th July.0

Your £120 merely buys you an advert on an obscure website that nobody looking to buy a car as ever heard of before. If someone was actualy interested in buying your car, they'd be phoning you direct.
Tell them you won't pay anything upfront, but if they do find you a person that actually buys your car from you, for the price they say you can get for it, you'll pay them £240."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0 -
I Agree with the above post, I as a potential buyer, would be more interested in cutting out the middleman as much as you the seller would be. If I want it id rather make an offer directly.
If I was to sell my car, I dont think anybody phoning me and saying "I know sombody who wants to buy your car", would convince me is worth any less than someone who says "I want to buy your car":A:dance:1+1+1=1:dance::A

I was telephoned after having my vehicle advertised in the Auto trader by Vehicle world services saying they had lined up a customer, who they had arranged finance for and the finance was in place and they only had to find a car and my car was it.
Thay wanted £99.99, which was there finders fee, and they also got commission for arranging the finance, they sounded very convincing, so I gave them my credit card details.
I have since written to them and have received a cheque with my money back as they agreed I was mis-sold there services.
I am surprised after reading your quotes, but I feel luckey I managed to get my money back.0 -
I've just been contacted by VWS offering the same services mention by others. My Auto Trader advert expired four days ago and they still contacted me. The guy was pretty pesistent. But I told him that before I would give him my debit card number for the £99 fee I would do some checks on his company and call him back. After finding this website and these comments I'm glad I did. It all sounded pretty legit - the guy really knew what he was talking about and there was lots of loud background call center noise. Until you hear the words: 'I need your debit card number'! And you do have to wonder why someone would pay a company to find them a 2004 Hyundai Sant Fe! Will he call me when I don't call him? One thing I regret - giving him my post code and door number so he could 'send me confirmation'. Try to avoid that as well. You never know who's gonna show up un the dead of night with a srewdriver to punch your door lock. Incidentally - why is it that when you type 'Vehicle World Services' into Google their website is nowhere to be found?! Hmmmm.0

If you type in the whole web address of www.vehicleworldservice.co.uk
you will see they advertise cars for sale.0 -
I've just been caught out too, they do sound very legit and talk fast! On reflection I notice the names of the "staff" are obviously false (all very obvious names): Lucy Wilkins, Emma Watson, Andrew Jones, I bet they have a list of names to use when asked.
Whatever you do, please do not give them any money, there are no buyers lined up to buy your car, to echo other comments, why would someone looking to buy a car use this kind of service?
They told me that they provide Finance to buyers who struggle to get credit, then they find them a car. Also, they were very persistant about whether I would accept cash or a Bankers Draft, with the emphasis on cash, hence if a "buyer" did ever show up and hand over cash I would seriously doubt it's real.
I guess mentioning a cash sale is more alluring too, for someone struggling to sell a car.
Avoid "Vehicle World Services" at all costs - complete bunch of gits0 -
Similar people as mentioned here have been ringing me all day trying to make me agree to giving them £99. "To check the bikes history and whether any insurance or theft claims are in its history", and apparently costs more than an HPI check because its much more thorough, lol.
They found my bike from Auto trader and rang my number given in the advert.
The idea was to put me in touch with '4 potential buyers' that are interested & they will make money by financing the bike for them. If it doesn't sell you get a holiday lol I said my money back would be more believable - Immediately didn't trust them anyway and as soon as I said I would prefer to call them back after thinking about it, they try to pressure me by saying "well that's a no then? We can find another bike"... And then as soon as I mentioned I don't like to be pressured, he took total offence. SCAM.

I was caught out by this scam a month ago, a girl called isobel from VWS contacted me with the same story, car is worth more than the ad, we have 3 buyers etc. I have written to them ( head office and directors) but heard nothing. I have since sold the car privately, but i now want my money back off these scammers, what is the best way?.0
