ive made a plain sponge cake with choclate on top how do i freeze this ? what would i need to wrap it in ? or carnt i freeze it now ive put chocolate on ?
thankyou0 -
I've done this with choc cake, I just sliced it and then wrapped each slice in cling film before freezing, when I wanted some I took out of freezer, unwrapped and left it for 5 minutes or so and it was ready to eat0

I would put it in the freezer and when the chocolate is really hard transfer it into a box or wrap it in the waxed paper you get in cereal packets.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Just wrap it in clingfilm (or if you're feeling energetic, greaseproof then clingfilm to stop the plasticisers from the film migrating into the cake), and bung it in the freezer. It'll be fine.
If you want to save the whole thing, then freeze it whole, if you want to eat it in bits, cut it up before freezing.
I regularly freeze all kinds of cakes, as I prepare them in advance for cake sales at work and other cake-related emergencies (I make a freezer full in one go, then don't make any more until it's empty!). I've never had a problem with any of them.0 -
