Hi mum2many,
I shell and blanche them too. It only takes a few minutes to blanche (I get the kids to do the shelling;) ) and is worth it for the extra flavour.
I'll add your post to the quick questions on freezing thread later to keep the replies together.

Hello
I have just learned how to make Pakora and to save wasting the oil I have used I was going to cook a huge batch and freeze them for use later. Do I freeze ofter the first or second cooking? Then how do I reheat them? Thank you!!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Afternoon folks
I took chicken out of the freezer yesterday and slow cooked chicken curry but have lots left over. Is it safe to freeze even though its previously been frozen?
Don't want to give everyone food poisoning!!!
Cheers!

I think so, you buy frozen chicken pies etc.
My friend buys 2 cooked chickens from Asda and freezes one.
Just make sure you give it plenty of defrosting time I think.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

It is OK to re-freeze stuff as long asit has been cooked in between, so to defrost chicken, cook it in a curry and then freeze it again is perfectly OK.0

You can refreeze something after you've cooked it

Sorry if this has been asked already but looked through 4 of 18 threads and got fed up!
Can I freeze rice once it's been cooked? I'm making quorn sausage jambalaya and it's going to serve about 6 and there's only me! Don't really fancy it for lunch and dinner for the rest of the week!

I'm sure it is, but someone else will verify for you - after all, they do sweet & sour with rice in frozen ready meals?
Just to let you know, you can do a search of this thread a lot easier than looking through all the pages - just go to the top green bar above the first post on a page and click on 'search this thread', then type in what you are looking for - ie cooked rice and click search - should give you a few answers then, not pages. Hi all, am making Harira (a lamb chickpea and spinach soup) where you cook the lamb and chickpeas in a tomato base. You then finish it with lemon juice and chopped spinach and coriander.
There is a HUGE amount cooking at the moment, way too much for me &OH and was planning on freezing it. Just wondering if you reckon I can stir in the chopped spinach and coriander just before dishing up ours, and freeze it with those in it.I never have luck growing coriander so always have to buy bunches of the stuff for things like this.
(also was supposed to add ground ginger at the last minute but I dont have any. I do have fresh but wondering if I can add it now its all "soupy" or should I have added it when I was frying the onions and lamb? Dont want that harsh raw ginger taste)
