Hi Guy's,
I have just had a quick search on this thread and couldn't find anything, but I have just had to empty one of my freezers as door left open and quite a bit started to defrost - I have cooked all the meat ready to re-freeze, got away with the veg thank goodness but wondered about some Naan Breads I had (part baked) and waffles.
I have cooked them (well, while the oven was on...) and have now re-froze them but is this OK if we just microwave them to re-heat when we get them out? I hate waste and this will be the only thing that is wasted if I can't do this.
Thanks, Denise
PS: Just got this great tip, which some of you might already know anyway - when freezer completly defrosted, wipe down with neat fabric softener, or if you don't like the smell or are worried about it getting into food, use glycerine, and then switch back on for at least 15-30 mins - when defrosting next time, the ice should all come off in sheets, much easier to defrost. (apparently if you switch on for at least 30 mins before putting anything back, the smell transferrance isn't a problem)LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -
I've made a sponge cake today and filled it with buttercream.
As there is only me who likes the flavour I've made I'd like to freeze half.
Does buttercream freeze OK please?:wave:0 -

Buttercream freezes fine, but it will keep in the fridge for at least a week, or longer if the butter was really fresh.
I'll add this to the Freezing Quick Questions thread.

Hi, not sure what you mean by this - I thought this was the page I put my freezing questions on. should I have put them somewhere else?
Sorry to sound so dumb, but looked for the 'any questions' bit and cannot find it.
Thanks for your help,

I'd put the whole lasagne together, but not cook it. I've often done this in the morning before I went to work, then left it covered in cling film in the fridge, it's been fine for 12 hours and I wouldn't have though 24 hours would be any differennt!0

I'd put the bolognaise covered in the fridge and make the lasagna from scratch tomorrow, just heating the sauce before you put it together. HTHThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0
