Might want to make salsa soon and so don't want to chuck it just to buy another packet...
Cazzie
Hi Kazzie, I freeze lots or herbs (wash and chop first then go into labels tubs, just pick a handful out whenever I need them). Parsley, Corriander, Rosemary freeze really well. Basil need to freeze whole and try to put into pot without handling too much as goes mushy when comes out, but is OK. Chaives, and Sage I pick from garden all year round. I have an oregano plant now too its very pretty but I have no idea what to do with it!Me debt free thanks to MSE :T0 -
I freeze fresh herbs, phillidelphia and red wine (if there is any left!!!) not sure about the celery tho, but i would think you could.0

2. Celery? Hubby will NOT eat, but I would find it useful for soups. If I bought a whole nunch and used 2-3 stalks for soup I would like to freeze the rest for another time. Do I need to par boil then freeze or do I freeze raw?
Karyn, after freezing they really are only good for cooking (so right up your street!)

You should be able to freeze pretty much anything that has water in it. The worst that's likely to happen is it'll go mushy (soft fruit and some herbs).0

quick question re freezing apples. i have looked on the sites you recommended queenie, but they say use ascorbic acid for freezing apples (just in chunks or slices, to be cooked when thawed) i'm sure i've soaked them in salt water before drying off and freezing, but i can't remember!

Is it possible to make a big batch of crumble mix and freeze to just remove as much as I need at a time? Would it be OK or would it turn into a brick in the freezer?
Also would I need to defrost it before use?

I often freeze crumble mix (sometimes with the pudding, sometimes in a bag on its own) It freezes 'crumbly' and ive used it straight from the freezer, and after letting it defrost without any probs.0
