Freezing Cauliflower I believe I have to parr boil the florets for 3 minutes in boiling water then drop into cold water before putting into the freezer but what about the green leaves can they be frozen ?
You can do that by all means, but if you want to make life simple and easy, just place the florets in a freezer bag and pop in the freezer. Then just treat as any other frozen veg.
I never ever parr boil any veg that I freeze, life is too short. We have an allotment so I do freeze quite abit of the stuff0 -
I've never managed to freeze cauliflower successfully. It always looks really discoloured and horrible and seems waterlogged and tasteless when cooked.

I think what people find acceptable varies depending on taste, habits etc, a bit like some people cooking vegetables until they are mushy, and others liking them crispy.
I cant stand most frozen veggies, I'd rather make something with them (soup, base for a stew, etc) and then freeze. I suppose they would be ok for certain dishes where texture and taste are lost a bit, like curries etc.
But there are plenty of people who like them, I would suggest trying anyway.0 -

Yes you can indeed
Just slice the carrots into the pieces you want when you cook them. I chop into sticks but you might like discs. Then just put all of the pieces into a food bag/freezer bag and put in the freezer.
When you want to use some, just take out a handful or however much you need and cook as normal on the hob.
Same with cabbage but you shread this.
The above goes for just about any other veg as well.0 -

don't throw veggies away, just freeze them before they go soft and mushy.
artydoll, yes you can freeze leeks as well. I've still got some in the freezer from last year that we didn't use once the weather warmed up. (we don't have hot dinners during the warmer month) I shall be using these leeks in a casserole type thing quite soon, given that the weather has turned.
I did the same with a celery from Aldi last week when they had them on super 6 offer. I sliced and froze as I said above and will add this to casseroles, it seems to help with the flavour.0 -
