It's unlikely I'll need to use the whole savoy cabbage in my fridge, so can I shred it then freeze it? Should I blanch it before freezing? I hate wasting veg

why not freeze it in bubble and squeek cakes with left over mash?
save time for a mid week supper - delicious with fried baconIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Would suggest blanching it if freezing, think you can do this in wedges with cabbage. Just blanch for 1-2 mins in boiling water, drain well and freeze.0

A couple of weeks back I bought up 10 bags of greens from tesco as they were closing and they were just 1p per bag!. I washed and shredded about 6 bags-didnt bother blanching them, spun them in my salad spinner to remove excess water and just tied them up in carrier bags and froze them allowing the greens to be quite free and not to stick together. I used some the other day. They cook quicker after freezing-they were perfect. Ive done the same with savoy. Ate 3 more of them and gave one away.Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults0

I have, I chopped it up first and put it in a freezer bag. I havn't tried any yet though, so I don't know if it's ok or not, but it's got 2 chances and it's better than just chucking it away without trying.
