No problem. As long as the sauce is liquidized it will freeze very well indeed.
I put mine in individual pizza sized poly-bags and defrost at room temperature. Give it a stir before applying it to the pizza dough.
  • Should be no problem at all! I make a similar sauce for my pizzas and make a big batch that I then split into several small tupperware type containers and freeze. Works every time but like the previous poster said, give it a quick stir once it has defrosted.

    :)

Yep, I use ice-cube trays to freeze, then decant into bags - this way I can give the bag and bang and just get the amount out that I need.

Oh, and if you've got it, butternut or other type of squash can be hidden in tomato sauce successfully.

    Cheers

Bought this http://www.tesco.com/superstore/xpi/5/xpi65575435.htm on Monday and stuck it in freezer as it was reduced. Only to take it out last night to thaw and see that it said not suitable for home freezing. :( I just take for granted that you can freeze most things. Do you think it will be ok, as i have really been looking forward to it.
    TIA

The only thing, looking at the ingredients and description that might be contrary to freezing is that the cream and marsala sauce might seperate on freezing/defrosting. It may just be that the product will be less nice after freezing (potatoes can discolour and the texture might not be as nice amongst other things).
Usually products are marked not suitable for home freezing because they have been previously frozen, but the length of date on these (a week or more) makes this unlikely.
Personally I'd have no problem with eating this once cooked, but I'd make sure it's defrosted first and cooked in the oven to make sure it tastes the best.

it won't do you any harm, like the previous post said its probably just that it won't taste as nice after freezing. You won't lose anything by trying. i don't think potatoes freeze particularly well. When dd was weaning i tried to freeze mash potatoes and they went very funny like foam.
