Changes To StayWarm

I would like to point that if you move you become a new member of staywarm and they then send you a bill for the excess of your usage I had to pay £1880

My parents have just been informed of an increase to £141 for dual fuel in a 3 bedroom, just the 2 of them. They found this as a bit of a shock, so up to me to decide if that's too much.
On the face of it, I think they'd be miles better off switching (No exact figures of usage at the moment), don't think they're particularly heavy users so £141 seems a bit steep.0 -
If you advise them to leave it <might> be worthwhile delaying their leaving date until March or April (whenever their heating gets switched off or down low). Whether this is the case or not, of course, depends on their actual likely autumn and winter usage.0

Well this two old dear's pay £65.71 also in a two bed semi. But, they did tell me recently that this amount would be different depending on our postcode. Also that when ours is due for renewal, to expect an increase. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Two people, two bedroomed bungalow. (Age 72 and 76)
The new contract containing the following information was received this week.
Last 12 month's usage with StayWarm:
Gas 30750 kilowatt-hours
Electricity Day - 4455 kilowatt-hours
Electricity Night - 861 kilowatt-hours
Last year's contract was £84.18 per month
This year's contract (new) is £117.69 per month
An increase of £33.51 per month, a staggering 39.8%!
Is this unreasonable and how do I go about finding a better deal?
Most of the comparison sites don't show Staywarm so it is difficult to make a comparison.
Post code area S80.
We have been with Staywarm since 2001.0 -
To make a comparison just enter your usage and ignore the savings column. Compare what they say it will cost with Staywarm's prices.
In my area I see £1600-1700 or £133 to 141 per month. Compared to £117 for Staywarm. (Exact figures depend on cost of electric in your area (and I haven't factored in Economy 7.)) Seems a reasonable price.0 -
Don't know the Staywarm tariff details, Capricorn, but assuming you have gas central heating, why the night rate, usually associated with electric heating.
The national average is 20,000 kwh for gas and 3300 for electric.0 -

Yes martin, depends probably how inactive.
I too am retired tho can move about, and have a job reaching half the national average usage.
And the lower you can get the more Ebico come into the frame with no standing charge.0
