  • Hi Freuch,
By how much had they increased your yearly payment by as I,m with Staywarm just now and dont get renewal notice till december so bit worried with all the increases I,ve saw on here so far
  • My new payment was £155. I was paying £74 before.

So maybe you should start watching your meter from now on or you might get a fright like I did.
  • so what were the consumption figures that they had quoted you on your renewal? it would be on the useful information sheet. i am intrested to see why so high. please post the figures
  • Hi

My dad has just been told by Staywarm that he is a medium user and his monthly payment must be increased from £58 to £87. They gave him his consumption figures for the year, but he has no means of checking them, because he never has a bill. Do you think that his consumption has been over-estimated as well? I checked other providers based on the consumption figures that Staywarm gave to Dad, but couldn't find anyone cheaper. He lives on his own and was surprised that he had used a lot of gas. He has asked Utility
    Warehouse to quote.

At least i know what my readings were when I started back with them and no doubt they will class me as high user. Will just need to wait and see what they come up with as I,m presently waiting on a meter change because the one I have just now has 3 readings so quite hard too judge consumption.Maybe joseph012 can help me out there as I seem to have 1xday rate and 2xnight rates and was wondering do i just add the 2 night ones together then divide by 2 to get average of both.Day rate is no problem as i can understand that,Thanks

I started keeping my meter readings every month 2 years ago, and the usage they gave me with my last review was loads more than I had used with both gas & electricity. I parted company with them in May as I had my usage figures I found a cheaper supplier with a saving at that time of £300 per year, (even using the same amount of fuel as I was using with Staywarm, not being particularly frugal) to save paying £80 all through the summer. I dread to think what my new figure would have been in December if I had stayed with them.

When we joined Staywarm back in 2002 we thought it was a great scheme, but then Powergen took over around 2003 and our monthly bill kept going up. Last year they announced another price rise and we would have been paying £68.00+ per month. We are not high users and I felt the price rise was outrageous so I called uswitch. Based on the previous years usage figures they advised we would save £240 per year by switching to Scottish Power. So that is what we did, we are now paying £47.00 per month for our electricity (no gas) and it is a capped price.

We have just received our letter from Powergen advising that our monthly payment is to be increased on 15/11 to £115.41 from £84.27 - an increase of 36.95%. I thought that was bad but reading other peoples notes I think we have been lucky. Anyhow I will be shopping around.
  • Got ours today. £77 up to £92 with no mention of usage. 2 in a 3 bedroom house.

Am I glad now that I got away from them when I did.
We are also 2 in a 3 bed house and paying Scottish Power £68/month.
I think £92 sounds about what we would be paying now..........£288/year more than we are paying now.
    So happy...:D:D
