  • Sr flour should be ok, the recipe I use starts with plain flour then adds baking powder and bicarb of soda. So IMHO it works out the same as self raising.

I bought a box of mix today so we'll be having pancakes in the style of cannaloni (bolognese left over from yesterday ) followed traditional pancakes with lemon and sugar

The worst thing about pancakes is that the cook never gets to eat one cos by the time you've served all they are back for seconds so I always cook a huge batch in the morning and stack them cold on a plate and gently re-heat in the micro and then keep warm in the oven. You'd never know they wern't cooked fresh. HTH

What a good idea.... going to try that as it always happens to me... by the time they have all had sixths I have no mix left for me!!

Will just save a little mix so they children can see a few landing on the floor!!!!
  • Sorry if you've already covered this - I didn't read every post on here, but... can you freeze uncooked pancake mix?

I was thinking of making extra and using it for yorkshire puddings sometime.

Cooked pancakes freeze really well btw- just put a sheet of greasproof in between to stop them sticking.

Learn from the mistakes of others - you won't live long enough to make them all yourself.

If you are having pancakes as your pudding tonight, what are you going to have as a main course, that isn't too filling? I'm racking my brains.....

Mmm had some pancakes this morning, peanut butter and honey - you can spread a thin layer of peanut butter on the pancakes and drizzle on honey or add a spoonfull to your mix. Chunky PB is best.

We're having thin steaks and a garden salad, followed by PB pancakes ;) Alternatively, you can have savoury pancakes filled with bolognaise mince and rolled up like tortillas, topped with cheese and grilled. Don't forget to pop a button on your trousers ;)

I think I'd better go for the salad route, even though the savoury pancakes sound delicious! :)
