I don't have kitchen towel - can I use a tissue folded instead?

Probably fine - just try it out carefully first time to see if the tissue doesn't leave any 'bits' in the pan as it is softer than kitchen roll. Guess you could use toilet paper just the same.

    My batter mix is:

    4oz flour
    1 egg
    ½pt milk

Before each pancake, I put about a tablespoon of oil in the frying pan, give it a good swill around and tip the excess back into a jug. Then I pop it on the ring for a few seconds, then add the batter.

Works fine every time, even on the first one!

I had two frying pans on the go making them this evening. Hope everyone elses arms are not too sore after all the tossing that has been going on :D
Here I go again on my own....

Well, I can't upload the pics of my lovely pancakes because photobucket is closed for maintenance.

So I'll have to do it later. :D

Its a bit like my victoria sponge, way too much filling. :rotfl: Cherries and ice cream and it was delish. :D

    Mine are here. :D
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
  • Hi,

I made pancake mix from scratch yesterday and left it in the fridge covered in clingfilm for OH's pudding. He didn't eat it, so I'm wondering if it will still be ok to use (in toad and the hole).

It looks like it's separated though? It has been in the fridge for about 24 hours.
  • Just give it a really good whisk and it should be fine if its been in the fridge. I've got batter left over too, its for pancakes for OH when he gets home as he was away last night.

But you might want to wait for someone more knowledgable to reply lol :o

  • As long as the milk wasn't on the point of going off, I'm sure it will be fine. (It will smell awful if it has!) Just whisk it all together before you cook it as Kate said.

Wish I'd got some left, I really enjoyed mine yesterday!
