My store know me now - only because I went and spent all my points on the tv/dvd combi and the woman didn't know you could get such good stuffon points. I'd just collected my 1800 points on me £13.44 shop when the lady from the photo counter collared me to see if I'd actually managed to get the tv. ;D Told her that was why i collected the points - didn't want to waste them on little items when I could save up for BIG stuff. Didn't tell her that it's thanks to this site I'd saved up for me tv in 3 months ;D ;D

Just wish you could spend them online - the tv is £35 cheaper online than in store. :o Must think what else I "need" - maybe I could buy all the guards a pressie - specs perhaps???

Slightly similar experience in salford today, I went in with my 3 yr old and went straight to the toy ailse as I had enough points to treat him! out of nowhere two security guards appeared at the end of the aisle, strange as I've never seen security guards in that store!
They left after after a few secs probable to watch via CCTV etc.
Moved to the baby clothing aisle, having noitced a get 500 points for £25 spend offer within baby section, few secs later staff appear putting stock out.
Move to the Nappies section to get the £16 for two packs offer and get above the £25 spend and notice someone else appear. By this time I did'nt think it was coincedence!! >:(
As I had spent a while getting all this stuff decided to pay and leave but this has definately put me off BOOTS!

Though will go back once to another store just to spend all the remaining points!!

Maybe its cos we all take advantage!! lol
maybe ur sons a future boots shoplifter or christ he is now and learnt young!

seaniboy  " your honour, i contest this exclusion order  from Boots,1 high st,anytown  as the card does state on it ADVANTAGE, while im here me and trading standards would like to lodge an application on false advertising in response to boots plc use of the word ADVANTAGE on thier loyalty card, we also include as evidence a tin of varnish, description of item is RONSEAL clear varnish"
If I helped or saved you money - Thank me
If I helped you spend some money - spank me
    If I done both - :lipsrseal me:eek:

Hugs to seaniboy from a fellow Dundonian. Can you get the Broughty Ferry outlet by bus? Mind you it's much much smaller so not much chance of offers. :(

My bf and I once had an incident in Boots where he thought the Security guard was watching us thinking we were stealing. I was testing make-up on my hand, putting it back then holding my bf's hand and it looked like I may have been passing the make-up up his sleeve. So I made a big deal of showing I wasn't.

Hope you get some kind of compensation.

sorry for muddling up genuine complaints with my triviality i just am very confused about why they have sent me a second cd that is all. i will see what monday holds them email them - the phon number is an 0870 one so will cost an amr and a leg during the day, cheaper to email coz it comes off the broadband account.

a big (((hug))) to the poster who got hassled by the secuirty btw.

It's yours if you want it unless they ask for it back within a certain time which is doubtful. If you don't want it then send it back, give it away, sell it....

  • My wife feels very uncomfortable in BOOTS at times so much so she will no longer go in unless she is with me

I must however admit it may sometimes look strange as you dont normally expect a 6 ft 2 man to go up & down every aisle looking for reduced price stickers ... When we do see security lurking at the end of an aisle watching I simply smile and say good day ... TRY IT they soon get bored.. besides which if you haven`t done anything wrong you`ve nothing to worry about !

Again Seaniboy as others have suggeted dont let this drop BOOTS like every store cannot afford to lose good customers !

this seems like a common problem by the sounds of it?
do u think all of us should start sending emails to HO?
couple of days ago some thought it was thier skin colour im beginning to think its what plastic loyalty card u have........hhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmm

are we really costing them that much?

are they trying to deter us from branches by intimidation?

rather than banning us or revoking our cards?

do we all have nice photos on the walls at boots security rooms nationwide?

first person couple days ago said assistant notified them that cctv had picked them up for misuse or something

You could have a point there - maybe they are fed up of catching shoplifters and are targetting us tarts? Maybe they think that screwing them on the points front IS tantemount to theft, albeit legit and their 'fault'.

Before we get a Boots security guard/staff member on here, I must point out that I know they must lose huge amounts to shoplifters and I'm all for their incarceration (the shoplifters that is - but then again - the guards too? ;D ;D ) However, our point is that decent members of the public who do pay for their goods are being hounded or at least feeling as if they are, and as they say, perception is everything. So, Mr Boots, whatcha gonna do about it?

ps I'll be in next week to get lots more points ::) I'll make a point of saying hello to all the staff, cos I'm nice like that.
  • I have only ever been questioned once at BOOTS with regards the way I conduct my shop !

I try to do my main shops when they have special promotions on the best one being a No7 voucher for every £15 spend ( before they put the facial wipes up to £5.50 ) but instead of doing a full £80 shop and get one £5 voucher I will divide my shop into 5 seperate £15 transactions so I obtain 5 vouchers ( however long it takes )

I will however try to use different tills when doing this ... there are two reasons for this 1. you sometimes get the odd cashier who insists you cannot do this and calls the supervisor trying to make out you are breaking the rules by splitting your shop ... & 2. When you do find a till who dosen`t mind you can guarantee as soon as you begin your transactions 98 people will suddenly join your queue and start tutting and tapping feet or even worse complaining ..

So once I had explained this to the manager, security guard , till operator & the nosey old bat who was earwigging ..... TOUCH WOOD it seems to have worked in my case because no-one has ever questioned the way I do my shopping since !

BTW ... can males be BOOTS TARTS please !!!!!!
