Some Car Insurers on Quidco have £120 cashback - vertially halves my car insurance. However, worried that my transaction wouldn't be tracked
I see Screentrade, Zurich and Lloyds TSB are all giving £120 cashback on car insurance via Quidco now.

Renewed mine last week for £163.80 (£43.80) fully comp. and the £120, which was automatically tracked, will be paid in April.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I've never had a problem with tracking. I see Zurich are shown as "Fast tracking" and "High reliability" as are Screentrade.
This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

  • Having taken up the Post Office offer of £50 cash back for car insurance at the begining of 2006 (they were the cheapest!) I received a renewal notice this year. Did the checks and found 9 other companies were cheaper including the PO itself - which I was not happy about! Rang them on their 0800 number and complained! They immediately beat my best offer by £1! They had done the same for my FIL - renewal amount more than as new customer before £50 cash back - who taken out insurance at the same time as us! We rang them again and got the same deal as we had! Therefore, don't believe their renewal offer is the best deal they will give and haggle!
I'm mad!!!! :rotfl::jand celebrating everyday every year!!!
  • I have posted a similar question before, but cannot find the reply.

I am looking for insurance for a transit van, used once or twice a week, social purposes only. It is a 1996 2.5 td ford transit. I have been given a renewal quote by motorquote for just over £200.

Ideally I would like to go through Quidco for obvious reasons, but there are a few things I am not sure on and find it easier to speak in person.

    1) will the companies match the 9+ years no claims I have on my car ins?
    2) how do I find companies that will insure vans that are not used commercially - cannot get past the first page on morethan
    3) have tried budget and churchill, as these are the only two I can really see. They are coming up at about the same price that I have already been quoted.

    Any help gratefully received.
  • I am currently trying to save money and had an attempt today to change my car insurance which is not actually up for renewal.

I found a new cheap quote for £211 which is great compared to what i paid (£312). I have had my car insurance since Jan 2007 and have made no claims. I rang up the company (fresh/ladybird) and they told me that I would get only £175 which includes a £30 admin fee for changing policy. I knew about the fee but shocked with the 175 as this means that they have charged me 50 each month already!!

This can't be right-please can some wise owl give me a bit of advice on what to do-do you think they are bluffing to deter me from changing company? if so how will i know etc..

from a very curious young individual who is keen to save a deposit for a house but will be stopped by companies such as my current car insurers...
    Miss Money

Ok thenks, think I will give it a try and see. £120 is almost half the price of my insurance quote, so you can see why it's important the money goes through.
  • I tried the cheaper insurance options but was very dissapointed with the results,i did get cheaper quotes, but on going to the insures web sies these were not available at the quoted prices,or if they were they were with the bare minimum of cover,ie.no protected no claims,no legal cover, very large excess,by the time these were added the cost was way above my quote from my present insurance renewal quote with the Post office. Plus what is really annoying is when you fill all the details in on the inurance web sites they ask for your phone number an dwill not proceed witout it, since then i have been pesterd by phone calls for car insurance, car warranty's,personal accident insurance. I never had these problems before i tried confused.com or moneysupermarket.com. This is the first time i have realy tried anything from Mr Lewis and while it has not put me off completley it has made me very warey

Rang PO and they said that moneysupermarket and confused are just 'estimate' sites. I don't find these reliable.

You can put in a false tel number if you don't want sales calls (I never put in real number) - just change if when want to except quote

Don't give up on Martin's advice!

Hi, I'm quite pleased as I did use the comparison sites and i agree that the quotes are only guides. However The PO was cheaper by over £100 than my renewal quote plus gave £50 postal orders. Armed with this info went back to my own insurers Frizzell and asked them to beat it, wanted same as Po allowing for the £50 postal orders. They beat it by £1. So thankyou Martin. I'm going to attempt the same thig with hubby's car insurance and maybe household insurance. It is time consuming- took 2 hours but I saved £150. It would take me 10 hours to earn that at work so I'm well pleased.
Are those shopping bags you're carrying really bags of debt???
  • Trying to insure a corsa 1.2 for first time car, Confused.coms best offer was £1100, shopped around and found £950 at ecarinsurance.com. Just need to pass my test now :)
