In the last 2 months, we have received £200 total.

Changed car insurance policy to Swiftcover for 1 car - got £50
Changed policy on home contents insur. to Barclays - got £50
Changed policy on home contents insur on BTL to Barclays - got £50
£200 better off.
Just feel as though the New Year has got off to a roll.
Thanks Martin.0 -
:T Gave it a try - found a good quote via confused - then went to swift cover direct - what a saving - we have a 2003 Peugoet 307 110 bhp diesel - covering 13000 miles a year - have been with More than who were asking £319 having gone up from £276 last year.
Swift cover quoted £228 (which includes a lower exess) and on top of that £50 cashback after 90 days
A total saving of £141 or almost 50%
No charge for using a credit card so have also obtained 114 Tesco Points which will either be used towards the next MOT payment or RAC breakdown cover.
Many thanks0 -

Best Advice UK
Above are a comparison site for car insurance quotes via an 0800 number and entirely independent of any broker or insurer.
You ring 0800 085 1898 and speak to intelligent humans in the UK to give your details. They ring back c 30 mins later with their best price. If it beats all your other quotes then all you do is pay £14.99 and they will arrange it for you.
They found me an extremely good deal so I reckon they will be worth expending £14.99 to save lots of further hunting via websites etc.
I checked and they are FSA registered so all in order on that score and I have no connection with them except as a likely new customer.
BEST ADVICE UKmaa299 wrote:I want to second this advice - I used them yesterday and got some handy help from them. They're based in Stoke-on-Trent; geographical number is 01782 838404. Searching in the FSA Register, I found them listed as a 4-man company with firm reference number 314751 (you can check online at the FSA website yourself). Friendly people...they tell me that they should have a website up and running in about a couple of months' time.
They also seem to be affiliated to the publication called "The Matthews Guide to Motor Insurance" (ISBN 0955333806), which is written by one of their members and apparently is available in W H Smith (see this SAYNOTO0870.COM thread).
My opinion is that they're certainly worth recommending to someone as a one-stop shop or for someone who doesn't want to trawl through confused.com etc and then check all the omitted providers and their intermediaries. They basically run through Martin's first three steps of the cost-cutting system, though I suppose they won't address possible gains from cashback sites such as Quidco etc.
I'm also a member of The Money Club in Datchet, and I used them too, but didn't find them to be quite as resourceful. Thumbs up to Best Advice from me then!
Regarding Best Advice UK, I saved lots of money too, very friendly staff, seem to know exactly what they are doing and take all your details just the once. They trawl through the whole market for you to save you time and (in my case), lots of money, well worth a try!
I have discovered their website which gives you their freephone number to dial for a free quotation, it's bestadviceuk.co.uk. It's thumbs up to Best Advice UK from me too!!!0 -
This is my first post so here goes!!!
In the cutting insurance tips. It advises to pay the quote in full or on a credit card. Im 21 and still living at home. I don’t have a credit card and decided to go for the pay monthly installments.
Only after reading this site did I realize that the company takes out a loan to cover this.
If they take out a loan and I pay all my payments on time. Will this help build my credit score? If it does do you not think the extra cost would be justified
Cheers

Don't know if anyone's mentioned, and not sure if this still applies, but when I insured with diamond, they impose a £35 fee if you choose not to renew your policy with them. Very annoyed about that. Was even more annoyed when after a few years I decided to get another quote with them and they reckoned I still owed them the cancellation fee, which I had paid at the time I chose not to renew. Would never deal with diamond again. Its better to be mad than to be a mute. Everyone hears the grievance of a madman - whether they acknowledge you or not. The mute is as good as dead...

Had a really good renewal price from Budget and also an offer from Autonet Insurance Group offering the £5 deal as title above. Budget was £157 and Autonets best quote was £196 so now await my fiver...hopefully. Worth looking at on the web for them. Mrs Happy0

Try Barclays, as I just did - Beat your existing renewal by £1 and give you £50 cheque back in return. Got £150 from them for 1 x car insurance, 2 x contents insurance = £150 in the bag
Likewise Swift Cover, beat your existing renewal and give you £50 cheque in return.
So far, £200 this year.0 -
Thanks for the info Mary...but I really should have added that this was for a private Transit Van Insurance and lots of companys treat this type of Insurance a tad like you're an Alien.........Mrs Happy0

Barclays renewal (I did the price match last year to get £500): £800
Swift Cover via confused: £480
Swift cover via money supermarket: £380!
Thanks Martin!!0 -
Just got car renewal through £977!! Broker offered alternative of Zurich for £768 (but limited cover) - and these weren't even including the addidtional 4000 miles I'm going to be driving each year!!
Went through tips best quote £666 (a sign maybe?!?) but again very limited cover.
Went through quidco with Zurich with £120 cash back. Limited comp £700, better full comp policy £780 with much lower excess and more cover so with cash back £660 for a much better policy.
Just hope cash back goes through ok as never used quico before and had to keep retrieving saved quote (after going back through quidco) as kept freezing when trying to buy online.
So total saving £217!
Roadside assistance also up for renewal - RAC renewal £125, on their website £99 - through subsidised work scheme with full european breakdown cover, home start and all the bells and whistles of RAC full cover etc ..........£10!!I guess working in insurance does have its perks after all!!
